Definitions
- the invention relates to a toothbrush with a bristle holder receiving the bristle field and a handle attached to it, made from a hard, compact plastic component that has the required strength properties, the brush base having at least one recess in the area of the handle. which is at least largely filled with a softer, elastically deformable plastic component.
- a so-called brush base body is injection molded from a first, compact plastic, in particular polypropylene, which has the required strength properties.
- This plastic is generally colored in a muted manner, since polypropylene is a partially crystalline material which is natural in color and therefore not transparent, but only translucent.
- This brush base body has a recess on its front side, but usually also on its rear side, the same being connected to one another by at least one channel when two recesses are arranged.
- the second plastic usually a thermoplastic elastomer on olefin or on, is then placed in this recess Injection molded styrene base.
- This softer, elastically deformable plastic component is intended to significantly improve the handle properties of a toothbrush. Due to the plastic used, the hardness of the injected plastic component is generally in the range between 60 and 90 Shore A. This, but relatively high hardness improves the grip of a toothbrush, but is still often regarded as unsatisfactory . In order to noticeably improve this grip, it is known to provide the outer area of the softer, elastically deformable plastic component with small, nub-like projections which can be deformed better due to their small cross-section.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of creating a toothbrush which has a highly transparent brush base and in which the hardness of the second plastic is so low that it can be deformed with the finger.
- the material of the brush base body should form a good adhesive bond with the second plastic component.
- the brush body made of a highly transparent plastic with a light transmission of at least 80% and a haze below 4% and the soft plastic made of a thermoplastic elastomer with a hardness of less than 60 Shore A. consists.
- a particularly good bond between the two plastic components is achieved and the second plastic component can already be elastically deformed with little finger pressure.
- the brush base has a particularly good visual appearance due to its high transparency. Both plastic components meet the health regulations applicable to toothbrushes.
- Fig. 1 is an elevation of a toothbrush according to the
- FIG. 2 shows a further embodiment of a toothbrush.
- a toothbrush 1 which consists of a handle 2 and an adjoining bristle carrier 3, a bristle field 4, which is only indicated, being formed in the region of the bristle carrier 3.
- the bristle carrier 3 and the handle 2 form a so-called brush base 5.
- a recess 6 extending in the longitudinal direction of the handle 2 is provided in the region of the handle 2 on the front side of the brush base body 5 drawn laterally.
- This recess 6 is laterally delimited by edges 7. Lead from this recess in the illustrated embodiment three channels 8 to the back of the brush base body 5 or the handle 2 and there merge into a smaller recess 9. This means that there are three small cutouts 9 on the rear side of the handle 2.
- the recess 6 extends over a considerably greater length than in the figure 1. From there, three channels 8 also lead to the rear of the base body 5 of the brush or the handle 2 and go there in a common recess 9 over.
- the brush base body 5 is now injected in a first shape, the recess 6 and 9 being produced with the channels 8 in the brush base body 5 or in the region of the handle 2 and thus remaining free.
- a highly transparent plastic for example polymethyl methacrylate, is used as the material for this brush base body 5, which has a light transmission of at least 80% and a haze of less than 4%.
- this brush base body 5 is inserted, either before or after it is bristled, into a further injection mold which covers the cutouts 6 and 9 with the channels 8.
- This second injection mold opposite the cutouts 6 and 9, also has cutouts which, with the cutouts 6 and 9 of the basic brush body 5, add up to cutouts or free spaces with a larger cross section.
- the free spaces present in this second mold are the recesses 6 and 9 and the channels 8, are sprayed with a soft plastic component made of a thermoplastic tical elastomer, for example based on styrene-butadiene, with a hardness less than 60 Shore A.
- This second, soft plastic component connects, even with small cross-sections and low hardness, firmly to the plastic of the brush body 5 and gives the toothbrush 1 in the region of the handle 2, in the exemplary embodiment shown where the handle 2 grips between the thumb and index finger excellent grip, which is noticeable in that the second plastic component can be elastically deformed by the fingers. Due to the recesses in the second form, in which the second, soft plastic component is also injected, elevations 10 are formed above the recesses 6 and 9, which are clearly visible in the drawing.
- the highly transparent plastic can also be made of styrene polymers, e.g. Polystyrene, styrene / acrylonitrile copolymer, from thermoplastic polycondensates, e.g. polyamide, from thermoplastic polyesters, e.g. Polycarbonate and polyethylene terephthalate, made from thermoplastic polyurethanes or from plastics made from modified cellulose, for example cellulose acetate or cellulose propionate, exist.
- Modified polyolefins for example elastomers based on ethylene / propylene (diene) copolymer, and thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers and silicones can also be used as the soft plastic.
