Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a sheet of roof- covering material, comprising a layer of bituminous material.
  • Such a sheet of roof-covering material is generally known.
  • bituminous roof-coverings With the known bituminous roof-coverings the roof- covering is always provided with a bituminous covering layer.
  • bituminous roof-coverings have the drawback, that the bituminous covering layer is subject in a large extent to ageing as a result of its being exposed to ultraviolet radiation and heat.
  • a further drawback of these roof-coverings is that they have a rather large thickness, about 5 mm, and for this reason are also environmentally harmful, while they have a width of only 1 meter.
  • Applying these roof- coverings to a roof plane is rather complicated, and comprises among other things the heating of the bitumen in order to attach the roof-covering to the roof plane by means of molten bitumen. Further, the possibilities to vary the exterior appearance of the upper side of the roof-covering are limited. Onto the covering layer a layer of flint chips may be applied, but it is virtually impossible and very expensive to colour the bituminous covering layer itself.
