The container is made of a material comprising natural textile fibres joined together by a binder of a hot-melt or heat soluble material, wherein a plurality of natural fibres such as flax, wool, cotton and the like, are mixed in precisely defined proportions and fed in shredded state into a mixer. A binder, also in shredded state, is fed into the mixer for homogeneous incorporation into said natural fibres, whereafter the mixture is transferred to an enclosure for melting or dissolving said binder in order to bind together the plurality of fibres, and the resulting material is provided, at the exit of said enclosure, as a web which is then pre-cut and stamped by known means such as a hot-pressing machine.
Description
CONTENEUR POUR LA CULTURE DE PLANTS ET SON PROCEDE DE FABRICATION. CONTAINER FOR GROWING PLANTS AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF.
The present invention has for oo-jet a container for the cultivation of feet and its manufacturing process. There are currently known different types of containers or pots intended for cultivation and first packaging of "young plants or plants before their final placement in the ground, said containers or pots having to offer the conditions for optimum growth throughout the duration of the culture.
These pots are generally made of a plastic material such as PVC, polyethylene or polypropylene, in flours of compressed DOIS or spins, in pressed cardboard, in metal or other. However in the case of a plastic pot the roots at the front can not, during their cultivation, penetrate the walls of said pots, which causes problems of winding and suffocation to said roots called "cnignonage"; moreover it it is necessary to plant the plant before planting it or transplanting it into a larger pot, and to plant it and repot it several times during the cultivation period, a disadvantage to which is added that inherent in the fact that recycling the pots is relatively expensive. As regards cardboard, wooden or tourrje pots, their low mechanical resistance, on the one hand to the pushing of the roots of the plants and on the other hand to impacts during their handling and transport, does not allow the production of pots with a large capacity, for example greater than or equal to two liters, which reduces the chances of survival of the plants when they are planted; moreover they do not allow an αure growing more than about three months.
Finally, metal containers with fluted walls rust under the action of water and fertilizers and their walls are a poor thermal insulator.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these various drawbacks by proposing a container which has relatively high penetranility, increased mechanical resistance, good thermal insulation of the roots of the plant, and makes it possible to avoid the operations of stripping and controlling the clod of earth surrounding the roots of the plant, saving time and facilitating planting operations, said container further degrading bioiogically by contributing to the nutrition of the plant, without leaving any waste in the environment. The container according to the invention is essentially characterized in that it is made of a material composed of natural textile fibers joined together by means of a binder consisting of a hot-melt or heat-soluble material. The process of making such a material consists in mixing several natural textile fibers such as 1m, strip, cotton or the like, in well defined proportions, by introducing them in shredded form at the inlet of a mixer, while that at another input to said mixer is introduced, in the same form, in a proportion determined as a function of the desired composition, a binder intended to be incorporated into said natural fibers in a homogeneous manner, the mixture then being carried in an enclosure for to melt or dissolve the binder so as to weld the different natural fibers together. The material obtained is preferably placed, at the outlet of 1 enclosure, in the form of a sheet which is then precut and stamped using known means, such as for example a hot press. According to the invention, the binder used can be a hot-melt binder, such as for example polypropylene, in which case the enclosure is an oven which brings the mixture to a controlled temperature in order to melt the polypropylene and weld the fibers. between them. The binder used can also be a water-soluble binder at a certain temperature, preferably higher than the ambient temperature, such as for example 1 starch or polyvinyl alcohol, in which case the enclosure is a bath or other means of impregnation.
Still in accordance with the invention, other natural raw materials, such as for example waste paper, cardboard, wood, peat, or the like, can be mixed with the textile fibers in a proportion determined so that the amount of The textile fibers present in the mixture provide it with sufficient mechanical resistance to impact and to the pushing of the roots of the plant which will be introduced into the container.
The sheet of material used for the production of containers according to the invention should be rigid enough to allow a container to stand up, its thickness being able to vary according to its mechanical strength and the capacity of the pot to be shaped.
As an example of a composition suitable for making containers for plants with a capacity of approximately two liters, the following may be mentioned:
A container produced from this composition can be, by passage through baths, coated with chemical substances such as, for example, fertilizers or phytosanitary products, or even Dactéπologiques products, with germs of selected microorganisms such as fungi, bacteria, protozoa, or the like. The containers 1 according to the invention can also be tinted to 1 • Using non-toxic dyes ies plants, preferably oiodégradables.
It goes without saying that the present invention cannot be limited to the description which precedes and which is liable to undergo a certain number of modifications without departing from the scope of the invention.
