Description
The invention relates to a microgranular composition, with the use of ashtrays, capable of almost instantaneously extinguishing the incandescent parts of cigarettes and reducing, even eliminating, the odors given off by them being extinguished (smoke) and once extinct (cold tobacco). The known compositions of the genre in question are described essentially in the following two patent categories:
It comprises an absorbent siliceous base constituent and an absorbed essential oil which acts as a mask for odors. The method consists in spraying deodorant essences on the entire mass of the basic constituent placed in a mixer.
LITTLE) and EP-0250304 (POINTIER) belong to the same category. 1) JP-87177088 (NIPPON OIL SEAL) which describes a deodorizing composition, in particular for the use of ashtrays, capable of retaining the specific odors of tobacco. It comprises a siliceous base constituent and an absorbed betacyclodextrin solution which acts by absorption (by molecular inclusion) of molecules with specific tobacco odors. In both categories of patents, the siliceous base constituent
Dans la deuxième catégorie, le constituant additionnel agit par inclusion moléculaire, autrement dit chacune de ses molécules, creuse, est susceptible de "piéger" une molécule d'odeur de tabac.(microporous) is used as the physical support of the additional constituent which is always present in an aqueous solution and which is absorbed, according to the phenomenon of absorption of liquids specific to siliceous bodies, by the microporosites of said support. In the first category, the additional constituent acts as a mask for odors, in other words each of its molecules is capable of being superimposed, to neutralize it, on a molecule of tobacco smell. In the second category, the additional constituent acts by molecular inclusion, in other words each of its hollow molecules is capable of "trapping" a tobacco odor molecule.
Les compositions connues sus-mentionnées présentent les inconvénients particuliers suivants :The above-mentioned known compositions have the following particular drawbacks:
- le constituant de base siliceux n'est utilisé que pour ses propriétés d'absorption des liquides et non d'adsorption des gaz qui sont en outre- the siliceous base constituent is only used for its properties of absorption of liquids and not of adsorption of gases which are also

réduites par le fait que les cavités des microporosités sont recouvertes de la solution de la substance additionnelle;COPY K CONFIRMATION reduced by the fact that the cavities of the microporosities are covered with the solution of the additional substance;
- les procédés utilisés sont sophistiqués car ils font intervenir des solutions à préparer, à pulvériser et à déshydrater (la composition) ce qui augmente de manière sensible le prix de revient du produit obtenu;- The processes used are sophisticated because they involve solutions to prepare, spray and dehydrate (the composition) which significantly increases the cost price of the product obtained;
The density of said compositions, in particular for the GUALANDI and POINTIER patents which use extra-siliceous sand, is greater than 1.5 Kg / dm 3 which significantly increases the cost price of the composition (cost price per m 3 , handling and transport costs); - the additives used, based on essential oils, have the effect of greasing the grains (reduction in the flowable property of the composition) and the ashtrays (soiling).
The invention therefore aims to produce a composition which reduces or even eliminates these various drawbacks. To this end, it relates to a composition of which: a) the basic constituent has been chosen for:
- son aptitude à éteindre quasi-instantanément les cigarettes (de par sa structure poreuse et sa granulometrie);- its ability to quench cigarettes almost instantly (due to its porous structure and its particle size);
- son aptitude à adsorber, par réaction physico-chimique de surface, les molécules de gaz (de par sa granulomètrie et sa structure poreuse);- its ability to adsorb, by physicochemical surface reaction, gas molecules (due to its particle size and its porous structure);
- sa faible densité (réduction du prix de revient); b) le constituant additionnel a été choisi pour :- its low density (reduction of the cost price); b) the additional constituent has been chosen for:
- son aptitude à absorber, par inclusion moléculaire, les odeurs spécifiques de tabac (en complément du pouvoir d'adsorption du constituant de base); - son intervention dans de faibles quantités en poids ;- its ability to absorb, by molecular inclusion, specific tobacco odors (in addition to the adsorption power of the basic constituent); - its intervention in small quantities by weight;
- son indépendance à l'égard du constituant de base dont il n'altère pas ses propriérés intrinsèques.- its independence from the basic constituent, of which it does not alter its intrinsic properties.
In other words, the composition according to the invention combines the actions of molecular sorption of the gases of the basic constituent and molecular absorption of the gases of the additional constituent.
The research undertaken consisted in eliminating in particular: a) as a basic constituent, the siliceous constituents which have a density, once impregnated and dried, greater than 1.5 kg / dm 3 ; b) as additional constituent, the solutions absorbed by the mass of the basic constituent; c) the constituents which consist in treating the surrounding air and not in retaining, in the mass of the composition, the odors of tobacco. The composition according to the invention is of the type using a constituent of microgranulated siliceous base and an additional constituent containing at least one substance chosen for its qualities of retention of molecules of specific odors of tobacco. It is essentially characterized in that it is constituted by a mixture of said constituent of microgranulated siliceous base which is chosen, in its nature and its particle size, to be used for its retention qualities, according to the phenomenon of adsorption of gases, specific tobacco odor molecules on the walls of the cavities of said basic constituent; and in that the additional constituent, also microgranulated, which is chosen, in its nature and in its physical form, to be used for its retention qualities, according to the phenomenon of absorption of gases by molecular inclusion, specific odors of tobacco in the cavities of the molecules of said additional constituent. The characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear more clearly on reading the following detailed description of at least one preferred embodiment of the invention given by way of non-limiting example. The microgranulated siliceous base constituent is chosen to be used for its retention qualities, according to the phenomenon of adsorption of gases, molecules of specific odors of tobacco on the walls of the cavities of said basic constituent.
The siliceous base constituent can advantageously be clay. Said basic constituent can advantageously be attapulgite. The clay and more particularly the attapulgite can be calcined to appreciably increase (more than 50%) their power of adsorption of the gases.
Le constituant de base siliceux obtenu contient, par rapport à son poids total, 40 à 80% de SiÛ2 et de 10 à 30% d'un mélange d'oxydes métalliques comprenant AI2O3, Fe2θ3, CaO et MgO.The siliceous base constituent obtained contains, relative to its total weight, 40 to 80% of SiO2 and 10 to 30% of a mixture of metal oxides comprising Al2O3, Fe2θ3, CaO and MgO.
The additional constituent, also microgranulated, contains at least one substance which is chosen to be used for its retention qualities, depending on the phenomenon of absorption of gases by molecular inclusion, specific odors of tobacco in the cavities of the molecules of said constituent. additional.
The additional constituent can advantageously be betacyclodextrin which belongs to the family of cyclodextrins (derived from starch). The additional constituent may contain, in addition, a tobacco odor masking agent.
The composition obtained may comprise, in addition, a dye. The basic component advantageously has a particle size between 0.1 and 1 mm (better adsorption).
The composition obtained advantageously has a density of between 0.5 and 0.75 Kg / dm 3 (reduction of the cost price).
The additional constituent can be constituted exclusively by the substance chosen for its retention qualities, by molecular inclusion, in the microgranulated form, in particular by betacyclodextrin.
The additional constituent may consist of a mixture of a solution of the substance chosen for its retention qualities and of a constituent of the same nature and of the same particle size as those of the basic constituent. The constituent in question, serving as a support for said substance in solution, intervenes in proportions of between 5 and 30% of the total mass of the basic constituent comprising the support of the same nature and of the same particle size.
The substance chosen for its retention qualities, occurs in proportions of between 0.2 and 10% of the total weight of the composition. The process for preparing the composition according to the invention consists of: a) calcining, in a thermal enclosure, at a temperature preferably between 600 and 900 ° C, the basic constituent microgranulated; b) adding, to said calcined base constituent, the additional constituent so as to obtain a homogeneous mixture between the two said constituents. The additional constituent, which is for example directly the substance rete¬ ing odors of tobacco and which is in the microgranule or pulverulent form, is mixed, by stirring, with the basic constituent microgra¬ null. The additional constituent can also be obtained by spraying the substance retaining the odors of tobacco on a microgranular base, of the same nature or of a different nature from that of the basic constituent micro¬ granulate, to be then mixed, by stirring, with the latter . The substance retaining the odors of tobacco can advantageously be micro-sprayed directly on 5 to 30% of the total mass of the basic microgranular constituent resulting from phase a) above, said mass concerned by the spraying then being mixed, by stirring , to 95 to 70% of the mass of the basic constituent which has not undergone the micro- spray.
The substance retaining the odors of tobacco can advantageously intervene in proportions of between 0.2 and 10% of the total weight of the composition. An accelerated drying cycle may possibly terminate the process if the moisture content of the composition is greater than 10%. The substance retaining the odors of tobacco, in the microgranular form, can also be mixed with the basic constituent on which an adhesive solution has been sprayed beforehand, partially preferably, to avoid the phenomenon of segregation (differences in particle size ).
In the composition thus produced, although the adsorption and absorption functions of tobacco odors are carried out from two distinct constituents, the latter cooperate in a new and original overall result in its effectiveness (better yield of the additional constituent). In addition, the casting qualities of the basic constituent, which constitutes the main mass of the composition, are practically not modified by the additional constituent.
Wanting to act directly on the basic constituent by solutions of deodorant products, significantly reduces the adsorbent properties of the products in question. In addition, they treat the ambient air more than the cigarette butt in the ashtray.
The results obtained by this composition by its action on cigarette butts are much higher than those obtained with the compositions belonging to the above-mentioned state of the art (comparative tests have been carried out). The composition thus obtained is easy to prepare and to package.
It makes it possible to work at high manufacturing frequencies and to obtain relatively low costs compatible with the application concerned. Such a product, intended for domestic ashtrays and cars, must be above all economical and effective. Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments described for which other variants can be provided:
