Abstract

The invention relates to boiler construction for transport means, in particular for shipboard steam generators with water-tube boilers. In order to reduce the thermal inertia and increase the reliability of the boiler, along the internal generatrix of the steam drum (1), radial T-shaped ridges (5) are provided between the axial lines of the pipe plate, their height above the upper section of the riser (3) being not less than the diameter of the apertures which together with the surface of the pipe plate (2) form separation chambers (6). Down pipes (7) are mounted coaxially within the risers (3), the upper extremities of the down pipes are accommodated in the lower cavity of the separation chambers (6) and have a bend (8) and an oblique section (9); the down pipes (7) are made of an inert light-weight material such as fluoroplastic. When the unit is in operation, water is fed into the steam drum without full preheating. The lower extremities of the risers are fitted with drain plugs (4); these are removed for repairs where the boiler is dried and deposits removed from the inner surface of the pipes (3) without the steam drum being opened.
