Abstract

Use: in reprocessing aluminium slag by smelting. The essence of the invention lies in the fact that a reagent is introduced into the molten aluminium to promote the separation of oxides and metallic aluminium at a temperature of 800-930 °C. The reagent used can be slag obtained during the manufacture of synthetic silumin, the product obtained by treating graphite with steam, lime, a mixture of graphite and secondary aluminium slag or a spent mixture produced in the casting industry. The invention promotes more rapid remelting of slag, reduces the costs involved in reprocessing slag and makes productive use of metallurgical waste not hitherto used.
