Abstract

L'invention concerne une prothèse élastique du type 'stent', pour élargir un conduit d'un être vivant, notamment une partie sténosée d'un vaisseau sanguin. La prothèse (5) se compose de plusieurs segments de fil élastique (1, 2, 3, 4) enroulés en spires hélicoïdales de même sens, les fils étant intercalés axialement les uns entre les autres dans une configuration sensiblement cylindrique, sans se croiser. Les segments peuvent être indépendants ou être fixés les uns aux autres aux extrémités de la prothèse. Les spires ont un pas P1 plus court dans la partie médiane (6) que dans les autres parties (7, 8) de la longueur de la prothèse, ce qui empêche qu'un segment indépendant se déplace par 'vissage' entre les autres. Les extrémités (10, 11) des fils peuvent être toutes dans un même plan ou décalés axialement. Une telle prothèse peut être fabriquée à un faible coût. Elle est utilisable dans les traitements d'angioplastie, d'urologie, de gynécologie et en général pour élargir ou maintenir tout conduit du corps humain ou animal.
