Abstract

A tag (10) is attached to a coiled cable (11) by opening the coils of the cable slightly, flexing the tag (10) so as to open up a part of the plastics on either side of a cut (13) on the tag, threading the cable through that opened part until the opening (12) surrounds the cable and then releasing the coil and tag such that the plastics resumes its generally planar shape. The side walls of the tag that define the opening (12) prevent detachment of the tag from the cable. The coils of the cable (11) exert a force on the tag.
