Abstract

Matelas (10) conçu pour réduire la pression et les forces de cisaillement et s'opposer par là à la formation d'escarres. Ledit matelas (10) est fait d'un corps de mousse présentant une surface sensiblement plane reposant sur une surface rigide telle que le chariot d'un lit et une surface supérieure (14) sur laquelle est étendu le patient. Le corps de mousse comporte une base ergonomique (18) pourvue de rails latéraux verticaux (22, 26) de mousse dense et une partie centrale (12) placée sur la base et s'étendant entre les rails latéraux. Ladite partie centrale est partagée en une zone supportant la tête (30), une zone supportant les pieds (34) et une zone supportant le milieu du corps (32). Les zones supportant la tête et les pieds sont recouvertes d'une couche supérieure (42, 62) de mousse très douce et d'une couche inférieure (40, 64) de mousse plus ferme. Dans la zone supportant les pieds, la couche inférieure (64) forme un porte-à-faux supportant les mollets tandis que les talons ne le sont que par la mousse douce de la couche supérieure. La zone de forme ergonomique supportant le milieu du corps est divisée en plusieurs cellules individuelles à mouvement libre (60) qui ont pour but de réduire les forces de cisaillement prenant naissance entre le matelas et le patient lors des mouvements de ce dernier ou des réglages du chariot. On préconise l'adjonction aux rails latéraux d'inserts (28) d'une mousse plus souple que celle de la base et des rails latéraux de façon à faciliter le repliage du matelas selon des lignes de pliage transversales.
