  • the amount of free potassium chloride present i.e., the additional amount of potassium chloride which is not part of a double salt, may be 0, but preference is given to its being at least 16 wt.%, more particularly still 26 wt.% or even 29 wt.%, but not more than 65 wt.%, preferably not more than 48 wt.%, more particularly still less than 38 wt.% or even less than 35 wt.%.
  • Highly suitable for lowering blood pressure is a salt composition according to the preamble of the first claim, with the salt composition containing at least 16 wt.% of potassium chloride.
  • the salt composition will further contain at least some trace elements, preferably in an amount of 0 to 2 wt.%, calculated on the overall amount of the salt composition. Although there is no firm data on this, the presence of the trace elements is also surmised to affect the lowering of the blood pressure in some way. Very suitable salts will therefore contain some amount of trace elements, preferably of 0 to 2 wt.%.

Abstract

Composition saline contenant 15 à 70 % de NaCl, 5 à 85 % de sels doubles de K/Mg, et 0 à 65 % en poids de KCl, le rapport molaire potassium/magnésium étant supérieur ou égal à 1. Il a été démontré que cette composition, lorsqu'elle est utilisée comme succédané du sel de table (NaCl), entraîne une réduction majeure surprenante de la tension artérielle systolique et diastolique chez l'humain. Une composition saline encore plus adaptée à un tel usage est obtenue lorsqu'une telle composition saline contient en outre au moins 16 % en poids de chlorure de potassium, ainsi que, de préférence, des oligo-éléments en une teneur comprise entre 0 et 2 % en poids. Un effet bénéfique notable est observé chez des personnes souffrant d'une forme bénigne à modérée d'hypertension.
