  • a gas turbine 34 giving an output of the order 150kW to drive electrical generator 60 giving an electrical output of about 150kW may be considered as a device which passes a constant air mass flow of substantially 0.907 kg/second (2 lbs/second) and has a temperature of substantially 930°C (about 1200°K) at the inlet to the power turbine 56. Assuming a 20% excess of air above the stoichiometric proportion of air needed to completely burn natural gas, then air supplied at 0.907 kg. /second will burn enough gas to give a heat output of about 2435 kW. Taking the gas turbine efficiency as 18.9% on a higher (gross) heating value means that the thermal input to the gas turbine must be about 791 kW,. This is because the turbine is about 150kW which is the product of x 791.

Abstract

Un générateur à vapeur à enveloppe (2) comprend un tube de four (10) ayant une entrée (32) qui contient un brûleur à gaz (68) et qui reçoit également les gaz d'échappement chauds d'une petite turbine à gaz (34) qui a une sortie sur un arbre de puissance (58) d'une turbine (56) de 0,5 MW ou moins qui entraîne un générateur de courant (60). Un ventilateur entraîné (72) dans un carter (26) agit pour extraire les gaz de chauffage à travers la chaudière et assure une bonne circulation de ces gaz.
