Abstract

The collection of origin-sorted refuse which is placed in a refuse bin (4) can be carried out advantageously by means of a renovation truck according to the invention which can lift the bin and empty the refuse into separate chambers (10, 11) in a weighing receptacle (8), from which the separated refused is led down into the front part of a refuse container (1). The refuse container (1) is configured with compartments (18, 19) in which the refuse can be transported and compressed towards the rear. The emptying of the refuse bins (4) and the transport of the refuse can thus be carried out without any mixing of the refuse, and the emptying of the refuse from the refuse container (1) can be carried out by tipping the refuse container (1), which can be mounted on a vehicle provided either with a side lift (2, 3) or a front lift (23, 3).

Description

METHOD AND EQUIPMENT FOR COLLECTING AND TRANSPORTING REFUSE
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to a method and equipment for the collection, registration and transport of sorted refuse which is placed in separate compartments in smaller refuse bins, which by means of a lifting arrangement on a renovation truck are raised and emptied into the truck's refuse container.
A method and equipment for the collection and transport of refuse is known from the description in DE A 2 558 433, where the refuse bin is lifted up on the back of the refuse truck and is emptied into two or more separate compartments in the refuse container.
These compartments extend from the rear of the container and forwards in the container, and the refuse in the individual compartments is compressed by means of a com¬ pressor in the form of a scraper which presses the refuse together in the compartments against the rear end of the refuse container.
This method has the disadvantage that it makes emptying of the container difficult. This method gives rise to very complicated compression equipment which is required to function in each of its compartments in the container. This means that the emptying cannot be carried out until the lifting arrangement for the bin has been swung away from the end of the container.
A second method and equipment is known from the description provided in DE A 3 557 546, where the filling of the refuse container is effected up front behind the driver's cabin.
The refuse is lifted up to the top of the container, where it is tipped out into a shaft to one or more compartments in the container. These compartments are placed above each other, and each of them is provided with a combined shutter and compressor. The refuse can hereby be emptied into one compartment at a time as desired.
This method and container are not particularly expedient, the reason being that the refuse cannot be emptied into individual compartments in the refuse container in one working operation, but must be emptied into the com¬ partments individually.
ADVANTAGES OF THE INVENTION
A method for the collection, registration and transport of sorted refuse, where the refuse in the separate com¬ partments is led down into a weighing receptacle with separate chambers mounted to the front in the refuse container, so that the same type of refuse is always deposited in the same weighing chamber, after which the weight is registered and the refuse is led out into seperate compartments in the refuse container, so that the same type of refuse is always stored and transported in the same container compartment, has the advantage that the separated refuse can be fed to the front edge of the refuse container and emptied into separate compartments in one operation.
The emptying can thus be effected in one and the same work¬ ing operation. At the same time, the possibility is pro- vided of weighing the individual portions of refuse, either together or separately in the sorted lots. The amount and composition of the refuse from the individual refuse deliverers can hereby be registered, with those advantages which this offers regarding statistics, accounting, and the remaining capacity in the refuse container etc. Furthermore, the sorted refuse is allotted to each its com¬ partment in the refuse container, and the compression is effected against the container's end wall, which is the emptying direction for the refuse container.
The emptying of the refuse container can thus be effected by opening the end door, and the emptying can moreover be carried out in separate portions on the ground or other depots.
Where there is no need for the registration of the amounts of refuse emptied into the compartments, the sorted refuse can be led directly to the separate compartments in the refuse container.
The bin with the separate compartments must be positioned in a certain manner in relation to the truck's lifting equipment. This is in order to ensure that the same types of refuse are always allotted to the relevant compartments in the refuse container, and to ensure that the sorted refuse is not mixed in the refuse container.
This can be effected by placing the separating walls uni¬ formly in all of the bins and so that they extend transversely to the direction in which the bin is to be tipped during the emptying.
In order to ensure that the refuse is not mixed in the weighing receptacle, this is provided with separation plates which extend opposite the separating walls in the bin.
The emptying from the weighing receptacle or the funnel can be carried out via a shutter and an opening in the side of the receptacle, in that the shutter can be opened when the refuse is to be led out into one of the compartments in the refuse container.
The refuse container is divided into two or more longitudinal compartments which extend between the bottom end and the top, thus creating separate compartments in the refuse container which can be fully utilized for the storing of the refuse.
To ensure a good compression of the refuse, the compressor arrangement is provided with a scraper which can move in a reciprocating manner in the container's longitudinal direction.
THE DRAWING
The invention will now be described in more detail with reference to the drawing, where
fig. 1 shows a refuse truck with side lift seen from the side, and where the refuse container is seen in section I-I in fig. 3,
fig. 2 shows a refuse truck with front loader seen from the side, and where the refuse container itself is seen in section II-II in fig. 4,
fig. 3 shows the actual refuse container for the side lift seen in the direction III-III in fig. 1, and
fig. shows the actual refuse container for front loader seen in the direction IV-IV in fig. 2.
DESCRIPTION OF THE EXAMPLE EMBODIMENT In fig. 1 is shown an example of a refuse truck which has a refuse container 1 mounted on the truck platform. To the front, between the refuse container 1 and the cabin, there is mounted a side lift with a lifting arm 2, the end of which is provided with a gripper 3.
The gripper 3 can grip a refuse bin 4 when this is placed at the side of the truck, and can lift it up to a position above the refuse container 1, as indicated by the stippled line in fig. 1.
In the example shown, the refuse bin 4 is a double- compartment container provided with a separating wall 5 which extends at right-angles between two opposite walls, hereby creating two refuse compartments, one compartment 6 of which can be smaller than the other compartment 7.
The users can place their refuse in the two compartments 6 and 7, and the refuse can be sorted so that the small compartment 6, for example, can be reserved for non-organic refuse, while the larger compartment 7 can be reserved for organic refuse.
Other sorting parameters can be envisaged, such as glass/refuse, combustible/non-combustible refuse etc.
The refuse can be packed or unpacked.
When the bin 4 is to be emptied, it is placed near the side of the road where the renovation truck can park opposite the bin 4. The bin 4 must be placed in such a manner that the compartments 6 and 7 are always oriented in the same way in relation to the gripper.
The driver can now operate the side lift, whereby the bin 4 is lifted up to the top of the refuse container 1 where it is tipped as indicated by the stippled line in fig. 1. The refuse will now be emptied from the bin and will fall down into a receptacle 8 which is configured as a funnel, as shown in fig. 3, which shows the receptacle 8 seen from the end.
The receptacle 8 is divided into two chambers by means of a separation plate 9, thus forming a smaller chamber 10 and a larger chamber 11, as shown in fig. 4.
The receptacle 8 can be suspended in special weighing cells, which are commonly known for the electronic determination of the weight in the receptacle.
In the side of each chamber 10 and 11 of the receptacle there is an opening 12 and 13 which is provided with a shutter 14 and 15. These shutters can be activated by means of commonly-known actuators 16 such as hydraulic cylinders and the like.
When the refuse is emptied into the two chambers 10 and 11 of the weighing receptacle 8, both of the shutters 14 and 15 are in the closed position, and a collective weighing of the refuse in the receptacle can be carried out and registered by a computer.
Hereafter, one of the shutters can be opened, and the refuse is emptied into the refuse container. The remaining part of the refuse in the receptacle is weighed, and the weight of this refuse and the weight of the first refuse emptied can be registered.
As shown in figs. 1 and 3, the refuse container 1 is provided with a longitudinal dividing wall 17 which extends from the bottom to the top in the refuse container, and from the weighing receptacle 8 and rearwards in the refuse container. The dividing wall 17 divides the refuse container into two compartments, i.e. a small compartment 18 and a larger com¬ partment 19.
The openings 12 and 13 each extend over their separate compartments 18, 19, so that the refuse falls into the respective compartment.
As shown in figs. 1 and 3, in each compartment 18 and 19 there is mounted a scraper arrangement 20 which can slide in rails 21 along the sides of the container, so that a scraper 20 can be pressed rearwards in each compartment by means of not-shown, commonly-known equipment, such as chain drives, hydraulic motors etc.
When the refuse has been emptied from the weighing receptacle 8 down into the compartments 18 and 19, the scrapers 20 can be activated, whereby the refuse is pressed rearwards in the refuse container 1.
The emptying of the container 1 is carried out by swinging the end door 22 of the container upwards around an over¬ lying hinge, after which the container can be emptied by means of the rearwards movement of the scrapers 20, or by tipping the container by means of a hydraulic cylinder 25.
When a front loader is used, the configuration can be as shown in figs. 2 and 4.
The front loader itself is configured as a support arm 23, the end of which is provided with a gripper 3.
The arm 23 is suspended at the lower front edge of the refuse container 1, and is operated by a hydraulic motor 24 as indicated by the stippled line in fig. 2. The refuse bin 4 which is placed transversely to the tra¬ velling direction of the truck in front of the arm can be swung up and tipped, as indicated by the stippled line in fig. 2.
The weighing receptacle 8 is provided with two chambers 10 and 11 extending transversely in the refuse container, which thus correspond to the compartments in the bin 4.
After possible weighing in the receptacle 8, the shutters 14 and 15 are opened and the refuse falls down through the respective openings 12 and 13 into the two compartments 18 and 19 in the refuse container 1, where it can be pushed together by means of the scrapers 20.
The emptying of the bin, the weighing and the compression in the refuse container's compartments are in principle the same for renovation trucks with side lift and front lift.
Where there is no need for the registration of the weight of the refuse, the weighing receptacle 8 can be replaced with a corresponding funnel which leads the refuse directly down into the compartments of the refuse container.
In the shown and described embodiment, the refuse is separated in two portions, whereby the sorting, weighing and transportation of the refuse is carried out in two separate portions. Where there is a need for three or more portions, the equipment can be provided with a correspond- ing number of compartments and channels, so that the bin, the weighing receptacle and the refuse container are provided with correspondingly more dividing walls for the formation of the desired number of channels for the refuse.
