Abstract

A nautical device can be propelled and steered by a standing user without the use of hands by twisting of the body to the right and left about a vertical axis. The device comprises a circular or ovoid floating platform (1), the submersed part being fitted with diametrically opposite base (2, 3) or side fins and a central fin (4). It may be used for games, contests, bumping, races, chases, leisurely rides or innovative surfing where, being propelled and steered by the standing user, it enables a suitable wave to be found easily.

Description

ENGIN NAUTIQUE PROPULSÉ ET DIRIGÉ PAR L'UTILISATEUR DEBOUT, SANS L'AIDE DES MAINS BOAT MACHINE POWERED AND DIRECTED BY THE STANDING USER, WITHOUT THE HELP OF HANDS
This invention relates to a nautical device propelled and directed by the standing user without the help of the hands.
On existing vehicles, the transmission of users' movements to the thrusters requires a certain amount of mechanics. The object of this description is a machine on which this mechanics is simplified thanks to one or more propellants made up of flexible fins forming fins or fins and actuated by oscillations of said machine in a horizontal plane. In the appended drawings, given by way of nonlimiting examples of embodiments of the subject of the invention: FIGS. 1, 3 and 4 represent a nautical craft with bottom fins and caudal fin, seen respectively from below, in elevation and from the front, FIG. 2 shows a palm in the open position (dotted line) and in the rest position, FIGS. 5 and 6 represent a nautical craft with two axial fins and caudal fin, seen respectively from below and in elevation , FIGS. 7 and 8 represent, under the same conditions, a nautical machine with a single central fin, FIG. 9 shows, seen from below, a nautical machine with lateral fins, and FIG. 10 shows, seen from the front, a variant. of such a device with inclined fins.
As illustrated in the accompanying drawings, the machine consists of a floating platform 1 circular or ovoid, the submerged part of which is fitted with bottom fins 2 and 3 or lateral fins 11 and 12 diametrically opposite (fixed along the dotted lines in Figure 1), and / or a caudal fin 4, and / or fins axial 13, 14 and / or a central fin 15. The fins are ajar at rest (Figure 2, solid line).
To operate the machine, the standing user, planing the front, immerses the caudal fin, and by more or less ample and jerky twists, to the right and to the left, of his body accompanied and transmitted by the feet, prints it alternating horizontal oscillations around a vertical axis passing through its center. Driven by these alternating oscillations, the fins react like those of a palmiped one opening 9, (figure 3), 3, (figure 4), and ensuring the propulsion while the other is pressed against the platform form 1 2, (figure 4) and vice versa. The tail fin 4 propels like that of a tadpole. The change of direction is obtained by more powerful impulses on one side, and / or, by planing the caudal fin in the useful direction. The position of the user is independent of the direction followed.
A minimum weight of the machine reduces the harmful effects of inertia when reversing the direction of the oscillations. This minimum weight is obtained by a monobloc platform 1 in semi-rigid foam with closed micro-cells in which the fins can possibly be notched 9, (FIG. 3), and the caudal fin 4 cut out. This round or oval platform can be divisible, and removable or articulated and foldable. The platform 1 could have the shape of a truncated cone with the top directed towards the bottom, and be equipped with lateral fins 11, 12 inclined (FIG. 10). A minimum weight can also be reached by a platform, fig 4, front view inflatable in several compartments, in particular, a peripheral air chamber 5, and the center volume 6 circumscribed by the walls 7 8. The respective and measured swellings of these volumes give the machine its circular shape and the required rigidity. These volumes are contained in envelopes of limited extensibility, which may be transparent.
A non-slip central location, or swivel and adjustable toe clips 10, (Figure 4) are provided. The toe clips 10 may be of the enveloping type and fixed to the platform 1 by means of strips with micro-loops and hooks ("Velcro"), which makes it possible to easily adapt their position and avoid certain accidents, when performing "surf" type acrobatics, for example.
In open water, a safety link connects the machine and the user.
All the bodies of water, from the paddling pool to the ocean, can be used, either for games, jousting, bumps, races, chases, or for a peaceful walk, or for an innovative surf which propels itself and heads up allowing to easily find the right wave.
