  • FIGS. 1 and 2 show that the base 12 comprises a table-like structure having a top 22 and legs 24 supporting the remainder of the apparatus 10. Of course any other suitable supporting structures can be used as well.
  • FIG. 2 shows a frame assembly 86 operable for receiving four workpieces 300.
  • Frame assemblies of this type can be constructed for receiving varying numbers of workpieces as desired. For example, it may be desired t transfer a number of similar or different images onto only one relatively large workpiece, then cut and form individual products from this larger workpiece. Alternatively, individual (relatively smaller) pieces ca be first cut and formed and then have dye images transferred onto and into printable plastic surfaces of the individual smaller workpieces.
  • Frame assembly 86 ca also include workplace receiving pad portions (not shown corresponding approximately to the respective footprints of the workpieces to be processed.

Abstract

Procédé pour imprimer une image en colorant dispersé fusible sur et dans une pièce, selon lequel on prépare un ensemble se composant de (1) une pièce (300) comprenant un substrat de plastique sur lequel peut se faire l'impression par fusion ou un substrat sur lequel ne peut pas se faire l'impression par fusion dont la surface à imprimer est recouverte d'un revêtement de plastique pouvant être imprimé par fusion, (2) une feuille souple (108) portant sur un de ses côtés un ou plusieurs colorants dispersés fusibles, et (3) une membrane souple (16) recouvrant la surface de la feuille portant les colorants opposée à sa surface portant les colorants. L'espace compris entre la feuille souple portant les colorants et la membrane souple est ensuite vidé de son air pour que la membrane appuie fermement la feuille portant les colorants contre la surface de plastique pouvant recevoir l'impression. Un dispositif d'application de chaleur et de pression, par exemple une plaque chauffée (200) pourvue d'une surface d'application de pression est ensuite pressée contre la membrane souple, alors que le vide est maintenu, pour que le colorant dispersé fusible fonde et s'imprime sur et dans la surface en plastique de la pièce pouvant recevoir l'impression.
