Definitions

  • Tube Deburring Device for Inner and Outer Diameter End Portions.
  • the present invention refers to a trimming tool to remove burr internally as well as externally from the ends of tubes made of steel, aluminum or plastic.
  • a trimming tool of the type comprising an essentially cylindric sleeve with at least one steel cutter, and where the sleeve internally is provided a body with a conical indentation at one axial side of the sleeve and a corresponding conical cone-shaped boss at the other axial side of the sleeve, and in addition the inside body of the sleeve is divided in axial direction into two parts, which are kept together in operative position, between which the steel cutter is attached with a first lateral surface protruding from the surface of the conical indentation and a second lateral surface protruding from the surface of the conical boss.
  • the object of the invention is to provide a trimming tool of the type described, which gives satisfactory and uniform trimming result internally as well as externally, and moreover is simply constructed and easy to handle, and this has been achieved by the two parts of the body being divided along a dividing plane, which is parallel to a diameter in the sleeve, but parallel displaced in relation to corresponding diameter plane, and that respective body has the tip of its indentation respectively of its boss located in middle of said dividing plane, whereby the resulting conical formation will be consti ⁇ tuted by an eccentric, oblique conical indentation respectively an eccentric, oblique conical boss.
  • Fig. 1 discloses a diagrammatic lateral view of the object of the invention with certain hidden details shown with dashed lines in the left part.
  • Fig. 2 is a view from the above of the tool shown in Fig. 1.
  • Fig. 3 is a view from below of the tool shown in Fig. 1.
  • Fig. 4 discloses a section along the line C-C in Fig. 2
  • Fig. 5 is a section along the line D-D in Fig. 2.
  • Fig. 1 discloses a lateral view of the tool, with certain parts located behind shown with dashed lines.
  • Fig. 2 is a view from the top seen in the in the direction shown in Fig. 1.
  • Fig. 3 discloses the tool in a view from below seen in the direction shown in Fig. 1, and
  • Fig. 4 discloses a section along the line C-C in Fig.2.
  • Fig. 5 is a section along the line D-D in Fig.2.
  • the tool according to the invention consists of an essentially cylindric sleeve 1 with at least one steel cutter 2 held at the inside thereof, in the shape of a rhombic plate shown with dashed lines.
  • the sleeve is divided in axial direction into two parts 3,4, which are kept together by means of at least one bolt 5.
  • the dividing plane 20 between the parts thereby is parallel to a diameter in the sleeve but parallel displaced versus corresponding diameter plane 21.
  • Each part 3,4 is pro- vided on its inside a body 6 and 7, respectively, integrated therewith, which body in one axial direction of the sleeve shows a conical indentation 8 and 9 respectively, while the body at the opposite end of the sleeve shows a corresponding conical cone shaped boss 10 and 11 respectively.
  • the conical formations are eccentric compared with the center of the sleeve 1, so that the tip of respective conical formation is situated on the center point of the dividing line between the two parts 3,4 of the sleeve.
  • the resultant conical formation seen from both ends of the sleeve thereby will be constituted by an eccentric, oblique conical indentation respective an eccentric, oblique conical boss.
  • a recess 12 in which said steel cutter 2 is received, consisting of a romb shaped plate, the most pointed romb corners 13, 14 of which, in the mounted position of the steel cutter extends axially some mm outside the end planes of the conical indentation respectively the conical boss, so that said tip sticks up at the external periphery of the conical indentation and at the tip of the conical boss, and with the the lateral surfaces 15,16 of the steel cutter extending in ⁇ clined from respective romb apex protruding somewhat outside generatrices in the dividing plane 20 between the two sleeve parts.
  • the steel cutter 2 is provided with a guide slot 17, which allows the steel cutter to be easily placed in exact position by cooperation with a guide head (not shown) provided in the surface of the recess.
  • a guide pin 18 which is provided on one part and in the other part a corresponding guide hole, whereby the two parts of the tool simply can be mounted in correct mutual position without need of exact manual fitting.
  • bars 19 have a level above the conical surface, which essentially correspond to the level of the protruding part of the cutting blade, whereby the bars 19 will entail that a tube, which is inserted in the tool from this side, in order to be trimmed on the outside, will be centered so that the tooth during mutual turning of the tool and tube will give an even and uniform cutting depth around the whole external circum- ference of the tube.
  • the steel cutter 2 does not demand any particular ground or shaped cutting edge, the cutter can for example be punched out and the perpendicular edge corners are adequate so as to give a satisfactory trimming result.
  • each edge of the steel cutter also directly obtains a clearance, which contributes to a good function.
  • the steel cutter is turnable in its mount in the tool.
  • the double conical body is not made integrated with the sleeve but is constituted by two divided halves in a correspon- ding way as described, which are held by means of bolts in an undivided sleeve or in the same way divided sleeve as shown.
