Abstract

A method for obtaining sintered articles from the waste of titanium and its alloys consists in their preliminary compacting and subsequent thermal treatment by heating and hot pressing under protective atmosphere with the use of a plasticizer. Hydrogen is used as the plasticizer and as protective atmosphere, and heating is carried out at the equilibrium pressure of hydrogen in the atmosphere until the concentration of the latter in the metal reaches the interval whose upper limit corresponds to the maximum solubility of hydrides in β-phase and the lower limit to the maximum solubility of hydrides in α-phase of a given alloy, the heating being continued up to obtaining the hydrogen concentration in the metal equal to 0.2 - 2.0 % by weight.
