Definitions
- This invention relates to an arrangement for removing baling wire from bales, such as pulp bales, paper bales and the like.
- baling wires holding together the bales must be removed. This can be carried out manually or mechanically. It is particularly im ⁇ portant to ensure, that no baling wire follows along with the pulp, because it can give rise to serious damages on the equipment used in subsequent processing steps.
- the mechanical removal of the wires usually is carried out as a two-step operation. At first the wires are cut by means of a cutting device, which can consist of two opposed cutters with co-operating teeth. The cut wires are thereafter coiled by means of a separate coiling device.
- a cutting device which can consist of two opposed cutters with co-operating teeth.
- the cut wires are thereafter coiled by means of a separate coiling device.
- US-PS _ + 850 087 shows such a type of a de-wir ⁇ ing arrangement, which also is equipped with special gripping members for transferring the wires from the place of cutting to the place of coiling.
- the present invention solves this problem, in that the de-wiring arrangement is designed so as to cut and coil the wires in one continuous step by means of a combined cutting and coiling device.
- the characterizing features of the invention are defined in detail in the attached claims. The invention is described in greater detail in the following, with reference to the accompanying Figures showing an embodiment of the invention.
- Fig. 1 shows an arrangement according to the invention where the cutting and coiling device is partly in .cutting and partly in coiling position, shows the cutting and coiling device proper in connection to a bale, shows the cutting and coiling device while cutting and retaining the wires, shows the cutting and coiling device while coil ⁇ ing, shows the cutting and coiling device while pushing off the coiled wires, shows the outer tubular member in the cutting .and coiling device, is__ a section along 7-7 in Fig. 6, shows the inner member in the cutting and coiling device, is a section along the line 9-9 in Fig. 8, is a cross-section of the cutting and coiling device where a wire is in a cut and retained position.
- the arrangement shown comprises a de-wiring station, to which the bales 1 are moved by a conveyor 2.
- the station comprises a vertically movable lifting device 3 for a bale and an upper holder-on 4..
- the lifting device 3 and holder-on A are provided each with respective points 5 and 6 for fixing the bale 1 in de-wiring position.
- Foldable arms 7 with cutting and coiling members 8 are arranged so as to move to and from the bale.
- a member 8 preferably is provided on each of two adjacent sides of the bale.
- a plurality of guide plates 9 are located adjoining each cutting and coiling member 8 in order to guide the wires 10 at their coiling between the bale 1 and member 8.
- Each cutting and coiling member 8 comprises an outer tub ⁇ ular member 11 formed with transverse slits 12, which are arranged angularly in relation to the axis of the member 11.
- the angle suitably can be between 20 and 60°, preferably 25-4-0°.
- a projecting tooth 13 located adjoin ⁇ ing each slit 12 facilitates the catching of the wires.
- an inner member 14- Concentrically in the outer member 11 an inner member 14- is located, which can have rod or tubular configuration and is provided with slits 15 corresponding substantially to the slits 12 in the outer member 12.
- the angle of the slits 15 should be in the same interval, but slightly smaller than the slits 12.
- the inner member 14- is coupled to a motor 16 and can thereby be caused to rotate. Due to a shoulder 17 on the inner member 1 projecting into a recess 18 in the outer member 11, the rotary movement is transferred to the outer member, so that both members rotate together.
- the recess 18, however, is formed so that a certain relative rotation between the two members is obtained.
- the outer member 11 is provided with an axial groove 19, which co-operates with a stationary stud 20 to ensure the starting position of the member.
- the member 11, for being rotated, must be displaced axially so as to dis ⁇ engage the groove 19 from the stud 20.
- a unit comprising the motor 16 and the two members 11,14- are axially movable by means of a hydraulic cylinder 21.
- a push-off member 22 is located to be moved along the same by means of a cylinder 23•
- the de-wiring arrangement operates as follows.
- a bale 1 is moved by the conveyor 2 all the way to the de-wiring station and fixed by the points 5 and 6 by means of the lifting device 3 -
- Each arm 7 is folded in ⁇ ward and pressed against the bale so that the cutting and coiling member 8 is in the position shown in Fig. 2.
- the outer and inner members 11,14. then are in the start ⁇ ing position, and the slits 12,15 are located directly in front of each other and directed inward to the bale 1.
- the stud 20 is then engaged with the groove 19.
- the member 8 is now moved axially by means of the hydraul ⁇ ic cylinder 21, whereby the baling wires 10 of the bale are caught in the slits 12,15 (Fig. 3).
- the arrangement can be equipped with a number of spikes 24- projecting into the bale in the vicinity of and along the cutting and coiling member 8, in order to prevent the baling wires from being moved along the bale.
- the slits shall have a width slightly exceeding the thickness of the wire. A normal wire thick ⁇ ness is 2-4- mm.
- the inner member 14- is thereafter rotated through a dist ⁇ ance corresponding to the movement of the shoulder 17 in the recess 18, at the same time as the groove 19 and stud 20 prevent the outer member 11 from rotating.
- the wire is then cut by the edges on one side of the slits 12,15 and simultaneously clamped by the edges of the slits on the opposite side, as shown in Fig. 10.
- the slits of the inner member are bevelled on one flank 25- There is further a certain play between the inner and outer member. Due to the differ ⁇ ence in the slit angle, the wire also is affected in the direction to the interior portion of the slits.
- the cutting and coil ⁇ ing member 8 is moved further through a distance by means of the cylinder 21 , whereby the stud 20 is disengaged from the groove (Fig. 4-) • At the same time, the arms 7 are folded outward from the bale, whereby the clamped wire ends follow along, and the wires are inserted between the guide plates 9.
- the entire cutting and coiling member 8 is thereafter rotated by the motor 16, whereby the wires are coiled in their entirety.
- the member 8 is thereafter rotated back ⁇ ward and moved back, so that the stud 20 again is guided into the groove 19.
- the wire windings are simultaneously pushed off by the push-off member 22 (Fig. 5). These wire windings can have a diameter of between 20 and 500 mm. The arrangement is thereby ready for de-wiring the next bale.
- the cutting and clamping of the wire can be effected in such a way, that the inner and outer member are not rotated but moved through a distance relative to one another.
- the cutting and clamping thereby takes place in a basically similar way.
- the de-wiring in general takes place according to above.
- the outer and inner memb ⁇ ers 11,14 can be ductile so as to form themselves after the bale surface, which at times can be curving when the cutting and coiling member 8 is pressed against the bale.
- the ductility can be brought about by dimensioning the members 11,14 in a suitable manner. It is also possible to design the members 11,14 pivoted in a suitable way, in order to render them adaptable to a curved bale.
