- the opposite sealing surfaces of the ring may be broken by indentations in the form of a groove or the like intended to receive corresponding projections arranged at the co-operating sealing surfaces between which a ring is pressed. Such a design will further improve the sealing and further facilitate the positioning of the ring.
- the ring is given a cross-section in the form of an H with the ends of the stems of the H serving as four separate concentric annular sealing surfaces. Thanks to this design you get a double sealing which improves the security.
- the lid or lids should preferably have a cup-form with a flange which covers the outside of the ends of the housing.
- the lid or lids can be fixed to the housing by a snap-lock, pro ⁇ viding i a the advantage that you don't need a screw connection between the lid and the housing. In such a way you avoid the possible distortion of the ring which may be the result of a screw connection. This distortion may also be avoided, if the lids are attached by means of glue or welding.
- the endwalls are separated from the housing by a ring made of a material having a reduced endwall attachment compared with the material of the housing.
- a ring can also be used in connection with the seal according to the present invention.
- the above mentioned projections are preferably provided on one hand by an annular bead or flange extending out from said ring and on the other hand by a bead or flange extending out from the inside of the adjacent lid, providing a very well defined position for the sealing ring.
- the said snap-lock is provided by a flange or a number of similar extensions extending out from the housing around the ends of the housing and by a flange or a number of similar locking surfaces in the flanges of the lids.
- Said locking surfaces may for instance be provided by holes in the flanges of the lids.
- Said flange or said number of similar extensions in the housing may at the same time be pro ⁇ vided by a groove or a number of grooves in the wall of the housing. Consequently, the dimension of the housing does not have to be enlarged.
- the actual sealing surfaces may be enlarged in that said grooves in the ring are made continuous and arranged to receive corresponding continuous flanges having a thickness which is larger than the thickness of the grooves.
- An alternative is, however, to make said thickness of the flanges smaller than the thickness of the grooves facilitating the mounting of the rings at the same time as the sealing is concentrated to the ends of the stems of the H.
- the radial sealing pressure of the sealing ring against the outside of the endwall may be provided by the compression of the sealing ring.

- the housing is also provided with at least one inlet and/or outlet 8 for the fluid intended to surround the fibers, i e the dialysis liquid, if the device is intended to be used as a dialyzer.
- the sealing ring 5 has preferably the form of a H, as can be best seen in fig 3.
- Said H-form is providing four concentric sealing surfaces 9 and 10 at the ends of the stems of the H.
- Said sealing surfaces 9 and 10 are co-operating with correspon- ding sealing surfaces 11 and 12, in the lid and on the housing, respectively.
- One of the sealing surfaces 12 is provided at the end of the housing, while the other sealing surface 12 is pro ⁇ vided on a special ring mounted in the housing.
- Said ring 13 is separating the endwalls 4 from the housing and is made of a material having a reduced endwall attachment compared with the material of the housing, providing a reduced risk for cracking of the endwalls 4 when they are cured after that they have been moulded with the use of the housing 3 with its ring 13 as a mould.
- a further seal is provided between the outer surface 24 of the endwall 4 and the inner surface 23 of the sealing ring 5.
- the sealing pressure between said two surfaces may be provided by the compression of the sealing ring 5.
- it is provided by a dimensioning of the ring 5 in such a way that it's inner diameter is slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the endwall 4.
- the ring 13 is provided with an inwardly directed flange 14 for the support of the fibers during said moulding. It is furthermore provided with a second flange 15 which preferably is continuous around the device, but which also may be provided by a number of separate projections. Said flange or the projections extend(s) into the sealing ring 5. Also the lid 6 is provided which such a flange or a number of separate projections 16 which also extend into the sealing ring 5. Said flanges or projections are in the final position situated essentially entirely within two grooves 17 and 18, which are providing the H-form of the sealing ring 5.
- the lid 6 may be attached to the housing 3 in different ways. Preferably it is, however, as shown, attached by a snap- lock. Said snap-lock is in the embodiment shown provided by a number of projections 19 extending out from the housing 3 into holes 20 in the flange 21 of the lid 6. It could, however, also be provided by two continuous flanges, i e one in the lid and one in the housing. If said projections 19 or corresponding flange is/are positioned outside a groove 22 they will not enlarge the dimension of the housing.

Abstract
On décrit un dispositif de filtration et/ou de diffusion comprenant un faisceau (2) de fibres creuses installées de façon longitudinale dans un corps (3), les extrémités des fibres étant encastrées dans deux parois terminales (4), au moins un couvercle (6) fixé à une extrémité du corps (3) et un orifice d'entrée et/ou un orifice de sortie (7) pour un fluide devant s'écouler à travers les fibres creuses du faisceau (2). Le dispositif se caractérise en ce qu'au moins l'une desdites parois terminales (4) se prolonge au-delà du corps (3) dans ledit couvercle (6) et est entourée par un anneau d'étanchéité (5) composé d'un matériau élastique, qui est comprimé entre la périphérie de ladite paroi terminale (4) et deux surfaces d'étanchéité de préférence parallèles (11, 12), produisant ainsi un joint étanche entre le corps (3) et le couvercle (6). Le dispositif est de préférence destiné à être utilisé en dialyse, hémofiltration et hémodiafiltration.
