Description

Method for manufacturing supplementary panes and unit for carrying out said method.
The present invention relates to a method for the manufacture of supplementary panes and associated distance reveals for completing existing windows with the supplementary panes, which are cut out from large panes. The invention also relates to a unit for carrying out said method.
From e.g. SE patent specification 8400531-3 it is already known to provide existing windows with supplementary panes in order to increase the insulating property of the window. Such supplementary panes and associated distance reveals are manufactured in factories after measures obtained by measuring the windows on which the supplementary panes shall be mounted. The manufacture of the supplementary panes involves cutting out said panes from large panes from the company storage. The distance reveals are made after the same measures. When the supplementary panes and distance reveals are finished, they are loaded on a transport vehicle and transported thereby to the mounting site.
If windows in another place shall be completed with supplementary panes after the abovementioned measures, the vehicle is driven back to the company for loading of said panes for the other place, whereafter the panes are transported to said other place for mounting thereof, etc..
The procedure described above involves a large number of expensive and time-consuming transports between the company and the places for mounting the supplementary panes, and the costs become very oppressive if the distance between the company and said places is long.
The object of the present invention is to eliminate this problem, i.e. substantially reduce the number of transports between the company and the mounting sites for the supplementary panes. This is arrived at substantially by means of the characterizing features of claim 1.
Another object is to provide a suitable unit for carrying out said method. This unit has according to the invention recei ved the characterising features of claim 8.
The method according to the invention permits manufacture of the supplementary panes and associated distance reveals directly at the mounting site. This means that it is not necessary to drive back to the company if, in one place, more supplementary panes are required than what previously has been possible to transport to said place with one transport vehicle. Secondly, it is not necessary to drive back to the company for fetching supplementary panes for another place - instead it is possible to drive directly from one mounting site to another.
The invention will be further described below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which
fig. 1 is a perspective view over a mobile unit for carrying out the method according to the invention;
fig. 2 is a perspective view over a front portion of a trailer forming part of the mobile unit;
fig. 3 is a perspective view over a window completed with a supplementary pane manufactured in accordance with the invention; and
fig. 4 finally, illustrates the motion pattern of the mobile unit between different mounting sites.
The drawings illustrate a mobile unit 1, shown with phantom lines, and including a traction vehicle 2 and a trailer 3. The trailer 3 is through a raised front portion 4, a so called goose-neck, connected with the rear portions 5 of the traction vehicle 2 by engaging said rear portions 5 from above. The traction vehicle 2 can be disconnected from the trailer 3, the front portion of which is supported by lowerable supporting legs (not shown) after removal of the traction vehicle 2 from the trailer 3.
The trailer 3 is adapted to permit storage of parts to supplementary panes 6 and associated distance reveals 7 and to permit manufacture thereof for being able to complete already existing windows 8 (see fig. 3) in e.g. residental areas.
In order to permit storage of said members and manufacture of said products, the trailer 3 includes a forward storage space 9 for large panes 10 from which the supplementary panes 6 are cut. The large panes 10 are brought into the forward storage space 9 through a door opening 11 in the front portion 4 of the trailer 3 and this door opening 11 is preferably closable by means of a double door 12, 13. In the forward storage space 9 there is perferably provided a movable stand 14 for the large panes 10. The movable stand 14 can be designed in various ways and preferably consists of a carriage 15 with rollers 16 running on rails 17 and 18 which start at the door opening 11 and extend backwards therefrom through the storage space 9. The carriage 15 is mounted or supported on said rails 17, 18 such that it can be moved a distance out of the door opening 11 (the extended or drawn out position is shown with phantom lines in fig. 2), whereby loading of the large panes 10 on the carriage 15 is facilitated. For being able to lift up or hoist the large panes 10 onto the carriage 15, the trailer may include a traverse crane (not shown). After loading of the large panes 10 on the carriage 15, the carriage is movable into the forward storage space 9 and, preferably also the large panes 10 thereon, anchorable in its or their inner position by means of locking means (not shown) in order to prevent the carriage 15 and panes 10 from moving during transport in the mobile unit 1. Upwardly directed trestles 19 for the large panes 10 as well as a plane 20 inclining towards said trestles and on which the panes 10 are placed, can be provided on the carriage 15.
As is shown in fig. 2, the carriage 15 of the stand 14 may be displaceable a distance in backwards direction from the forward storage space 9 (the rear position of the carriage 15 is shown in the figure with phantom lines), whereby portions of the large panes 10 are disposed in a space 21 wherein supplementary panes 6 are cut out from the large panes 10. Alternatively or in combination therewith, one of the large panes 10 can be moved a distance backwards until a portion thereof is present in the space 21 (this is shown with phantom lines in fig. 1).
When a supplementary pane 6 is cut out from the large panes 10, it is preferably placed in a washing plant 22, disposed e.g. behind or in direct connection with the space 21. Since washing plants for washing unassembled panes are well known, they are not further described here. Behind the washing plant 22 there is preferably a space 23 for temporary storage of finished supplementary panes 6 before transportation thereof to the existing windows 8 to be completed.
The trailer 3 also includes a storage space (not shown) for distance or spacer strips 24 which are adapted to be bent to distance reveals 7. The space for the distance strips 24 may extend along the walls of the trailer 3 above all other equipment and the strips 24 can hereby be placed on suitable shelves (not shown). The distance strips 24 are cut in suitable lengths in a cutting device 26 and filled with drying agent 27 (see fig. 3) preferably along its entire length. The drying agent 27 is stored in suitable containers at a suitable location in the trailer 3. The distance strips 24 are bent to distance reveals in a bending device 28 and the reveals 7 are given an endless form either by welding or soldering their ends together with suitable equipment that can be situated in the trailer 3 at a suitable location. Alternatively, the distance reveals 7 may attain their endless shape by means of extension pieces (not shown).
The distance reveal 7 made by bending the distance strips 24 is preferably all around on two sides provided with strings 29, 30 of sealing agent, whereby the strings 29, 30 can be of asphalt type (e.g. butyl). The strings 29, 30 can be applied onto the distance reveals 7 by manually or mechanically moving said reveals through an applicator device 32. In this applicator device 32, one or more of the strings 29, 30 can be provided with protective tapes (not shown) which are removed when the distance reveal is mounted at the existing window 8. The space between the distance reveal 7 and members of the existing window located outside thereof is preferably sealed by means of silicone material 31.
In the trailer there is preferably also a storage space (not shown) for decorating strips 33 and a device for mitring/ /cutting thereof. This device may either be combined with the device 26 or positioned adjacent thereto or at another suitable location in the trailer 3. While the spaces 9, 21 and the devices for the manufacture and treatment of the supplementary panes 6 can be arranged more or less in connection with each other along one of the longitudinal sides of the trailer 3 and on one side of a longitudinal gangway 34, the spaces and the devices for manufacturing and treating the distance reveals 7 can be situated more or less in connection with each other along the other longitudinal side of the trailer 3 and on the other side of the longitudinal gangway 34. Hereby, the bending device 28 may e.g. be situated behind the raised portion 4, the cutting device 26 behind the bending device 28 and the applicator device 32 behind the cutting device 26. Behind the applicator device 32 there may be an accomodation space 35 for temporary storage of finished distance reveals 7 before they are transported from the trailer 3 for assembly at the existing window 8.
The trailer 3 has, in other words, storage and workshop spaces and devices for manufacturing the supplementary panes 6 and associated parts for mounting thereof at existing windows. It is advantageous to locate the storage space 9 for the large panes in the front of the trailer 3 (in the goose-neck of the trailer 3), because the large panes thereby exert a load on the traction vehicle 2 from above when the trailer 3 is connected thereto.
It is also advantageous to load the large panes 10 in the storage space 9 from the front and locate the other spaces for storage and treatment behind said storage space 9 in such a way that the supplementary panes 6 and associated parts during the manufacturing process are moved backwards in the trailer 3 and removed therefrom through a rear door opening 36 which is closed by a double door 37, 38.
However, it is possible to locate the various spaces and devices in another way in the trailer 3 than what is shown in the drawings. Thus, the space for the large panes 10 may e.g.
be located at another spot than in the front of the trailer 3, etc..
It is advantageous but not absolutely necessary to cut the supplimentary panes 6 inside the trailer 3. Cutting may even tually be carried out outside the trailer 3 at the place for the existing windows. Even the other members required for mounting the supplementary panes 6 at the existing windows 8, such as the distance reveal 7 and/or decorating strip 33 and/or eventual other members not described, may be manufactured at the mounting site outside the trailer 3 and/or in a temporary building especially adapted herefore, e.g. a tent.
The trailer 3 preferably includes a power source for operating the various devices and an air-conditioning plant.
In fig. 4 it is shown how the mobile unit 1 is moved from a central C, e.g. in Sundsvall, where the required amount of material is loaded into the trailer 3 and from where the transport and working procedure is preferably controlled, to four different places, e.g. Stockholm S, Norrkόping N, Jönköping J and Malmö M, where windows 8 to be completed with supplementary panes 6 are located.
When the mobile unit 1 is equipped, it is driven from the central C in Sundsvall to the residental area or factory in Stockholm S with the windows 8 to be completed (see accor CN). The trailer 3 is set-up in said residental area or factory and the traction vehicle 2 is disconnected and driven away, eventually for use at another place. The personell measures the size of the windows 8 and manufactures, based upon the measures taken, the required number of supplementary panes 6 and associated distance reveals as well as other accessories. When this is ready, the finished supplementary panes 6 and other members are transported to the respective window (arrow YS) and mounted thereon, whereby the windows 8 after completion with the supplementary panes 6 attain the appearance shown in fig. 3.
When the assembly work on the residental area or factory in Stockholm S is finished, the traction vehicle 2 is called for and the trailer 3 is transported from Stockholm S to Norrkoping N and set-up on a residental area or factory in this town for completing existing windows 8 there. When measures on this place N are taken, the various members manufactured, transported to the existing windows (arrow VN) and mounted, the trailer 3 is moved from place N Norrköping to a residental area or factory at place J Jönköping for completing existing windows 8 there. When measures are taken, the members manufactured after said measures transported from the trailer 3 to the windows 8
(arrow VJ) and said windows 8 completed with supplementary panes 6, the trailer 3 is moved from place J Jönköping to a residental area or factory in malmö M for completing windows 8 at that place. When measures are taken, the supplementary panes 6 and associated members manufactured and transported from the trailer 3 to the windows 8 (arrow VM) and these windows completed, the trailer 3 is driven back from place M to the central C for completion of material, service, etc. or to another storage yard.
In this way, supplementary panes can be mounted on many different places in the whole country without thereafter being forced to return to the central C and therefrom to the next working area and so on. In other words, the new method saves long transport distances and the costs in connection therewith as well as all the time normally required for such transports.
The unit and method according to the invention is not limited to what is shown in the drawings and described . Thus , the mobile unit 1 may be of another type than a trailer and it can be equipped in other ways or vary in other ways within the scope of the following claims. The method according to the invention may also vary within the scope of the following claims.
