Description
AUTOMATIC MULTISTOREY PARKING BUILDING STRUCTURE
Description
Technical field
The present invention relates to an automatic multi¬ storey parking building structure. Background art
Automatic parking^ buildings are known which comprise: a service space, vertically and horizontally extending through the whole building structure,
- a plurality of fixed parking cells, faced to the service space,
- a car loading station,
- a car unloading station,
- an elevating column provided within the service space,
- elevating means, vertically guided in the elevating column,
- first transferring guides, horizontally provided within the service space in correspondence of each parking floor, including a fixed section supported by the building structure and a movable section provided on the elevating means,
- first transferring means, guided along the first transferring guides,
- second transferring guides, horizontally provided in correspondence of each parking cell, including a fixed section supported by the building structure within the parking cell and a movable section provided on the first transferring means,
- second transferring means, guided along the second transferring guides.
One of such parking buildings is described by EP-A-0351374 and includes a, shuttle, which incorporates the elevating means, the first transferring means and the second transferring means; every car in the parking building is on a pallet, on which it is put in the loading station and from which' it is taken away in the unloading station. The shuttle
moves the car-bearing pallets from the loading and unloading stations to .the parking cells and viceversa.
The use of pallets as means for supporting cars avoid more complicate systems for the translation of cars from the shuttle to the parking cells. However, if the parking building is large a large number of pallets is required (at least one for each parking cell, better more for a quicker operational speed) .
A different parking building, which does not employ pallets or similar, is disclosed by CH-A-670129. In such building, the elevating column and the transferring means are substituted by a single travelling lift, which has a double- comb arm for depositing cars in the parking cells on comple¬ mentary double-comb bearing structures. This arrangement is useful for small parking buildings, with a small number of floors, but not for large parking, buildings with more than five-six floors. Disclosure of the invention
The problem at the basis of this invention is that of providing an automatic parking building structure suitable for very large parking buildings, which is capable of operating directly on cars without the need for pallets or the like.
This problem is solved, according to the present invention, by an automatic parking building structure of the type described above, characterized in that: a) the second transferring means comprise:
- a frame, movable along the second transferring guides,
- a platform vertically guided on the frame, the platform including a central beam and two series of spaced bars laterally projecting from the beam so as to define a double-comb car bearing plane of the platform,
- drive means to move the frame along the second transferring guides,
- lift means to move the platform upward and downward on the frame, and b) each parking cell comprises two series of spaced
bars, horizontally extended in the parking cell near sidewalls thereof, above the second transferring.guides, so as to define a double-comb car bearing plane of the parking cell complemen¬ tary to the double-comb car bearing plane of the platform of the second transferring means.
In this way, pallets are not necessary; the cars are carried by the double-comb car having plane of the platform during movement within the building and rest upon the double-comb car bearing planes of the cells during parking. Transfer from the cell to the platform and viceversa is easily achieved by vertical movement of the platform on its frame.
Preferably, the lift means of the second transferring means comprise a rack-and-pinion mechanism in which the rack is fixed to the beam of the platform and the pinion, rotatively supported by the frame, is positively driven by an engine supported by the frame, and a plurality of guide columns between the beam and the frame. This arrangement permits to control the vertical movement of the platform easily, with very high precision and reliability.
Preferably, the elevating means comprises a frame, vertically driven within the elevating column by a cable lift mechanism. The cable lift mechanism is the most suitable for buildings with many floors. If the building comprises only five-six floors at most, also an hydraulic lift could be used.
Preferably, the first transferring means comprise a frame, having wheels moving along the first transferring guides and drive means positively driving at least one of said wheel. In this way, both the first and the second transferring means are independent structures, independently driven in the build¬ ing. This is important for the best operational flexibility of the building.
For the entrance and the exit of cars, the car loading and unloading stations may comprise a loading and unloading cell respectively, similar to the parking cells except for the sides opposite to the service space, which sides are open to an entrance way and to an1 exit way, respectively. This arrangement permits that none of the movable means of the
building structure is kept occupied during the time necessary for positioning the cars in the loading station or for removing it from the unloading station.
Preferably, the loading cell "and the unloading cell are faced to the service space from opposite sides thereof, so that a car can go into and out from the parking building structure without ever going into reverse. More preferably, the loading cell and the unloading cell are directly faced to the elevating column, so that cars can be picked up or released more quickly, since only second transferring means move.
Alternatively, both the car loading and unloading stations coincide in a position within the elevating column in correspondence of an entrance/exit floor of the building. This arrangement has the advantage of minimizing the space occupied on the entrance/exit floor, thus permitting to have a high number of elevating columns, which is necessary when there are many parking floors.
Preferably, to take full advantage of the character¬ istics of this parking building structure, there are provided a number NS of service spaces, a number NE of elevating columns, a number Nl of first transferring means, a number N2 of second transferring means, wherein N2>N1>NE>NS and N2>NS. hen the building has many floors, a great number of elevating column is necessary and therefore it will be NE>NS; on the other hand, if there are not many floors and the building is very wide, a great number of transferring means is useful and it will be N1>NE and N2>NE and, possibly, N2>N1. With reference to the drawings, an automatic parking building structure as a whole is shown at 10. The parking building structure 10 comprises twenty superimposed parking floors above ground level, >an_d a ground entrance/exit floor. Each parking floor has one-hundred-and-sixty parking cells 11, grouped into groups of forty parking cells faced to four service spaces 12, each extending vertically and horizontally through the whole building structure 10.
Twenty-eight elevating columns 13 are provided in the parking building structure 10, within the service spaces 12, seven columns in each of the service spaces 12. Positions at the ground level in the elevating columns 13 are used as loading and unloading stations for the cars. Entrance ways 14 and exit ways 15 are provided on ~the ground level, for permit¬ ting the movement of cars between the loading and unloading stations and the outside.
In each elevating column 13, elevating means are provided comprising a frame 16 vertically driven within the elevating column 13 by a cable lift mechanism (of which only cables 17 are partially shown in Figure 3).
The parking building structure 10 further comprises first transferring guides or rails, horizontally provided within the service space 12 in correspondence of each parking floor, which guides include fixed sections 18a, supported by the building structure 10, and movable sections 18b provided on the frame 16 of the elevating means.
First transferring means are guided along the guides 18a and 18b. They comprises a frame 19 having four wheels 20, which move along the guides, and an electric engine which positively drives two of the wheels 20.
The parking building structure 10 further comprises second transferring guides or rails, horizontally provided in correspondence of each p SKing cell 11, which guides include
Or
fixed sections 21a, supported by the building structure 10 within each parking cell 11, and movable sections 21b, provided on the frame 19 of the first transferring means.
Second transferring means are guided along the second transferring guides 21a and 21b. They comprise a frame 22 having eight wheels 23, which move along the .guides, and a platform 24, which is vertically guided on the frame 22.; the platform 24 includes a central beam 25 and two series of bars 26, laterally projecting from the beam 25 and spaced one from the other so as to define a double-comb car bearing plane of the platform 24.
The second transferring means further comprise, on the frame 22, an electric engine 27 and a drive transmission 28 between the engine 27 and two of the eight wheels 23, such elements being .drive means to move the frame 22 along the guides 21a and 21b.
The second transferring means further comprise a rack-and-pinion mechanism in which a rack 30 is fixed verti-_ cally to the beam 25 of the platform 24 and a pinion 31 is rotatively supported by the frame 22. An electric engine 32 provided on the frame 22 drives the pinion 31. Four guide columns 33 are provided between the frame 22 and the platform 24. The above elements are lift means to move the platform 24 upward and downward on the frame 22.
Each parking cell 11 comprises two series of bars 34, horizontally fixed to the sidewalls of the cell 11 and spaced one from the other so as to define a double-comb car bearing plane of the parking cell 11, which is complementary to the double-comb car bearing plane of the platform 24.
Both the double-comb car bearing planes of the cells 11 and of the platform 24 are slightly raised in correspondence of the longitudinal side ends thereof the ensure that cars do not move thereon. operation of the parking building structure 10 is managed by a computer system and is as follows.
A car to be parked is driven by its driver on either of the entrance ways 14 (a signalling system for directing the
driver may be provided) to a loading/unloading station ready for receiving the car, i.e. having the elevating means with the first and the second transferring means at the ground level.
The car is driven on to the platform 24, and left there by the driver, who receives an electronic ticket identi¬ fying his car within the parking building structure 10.
When the driver as left the car (an electronic control may verify this status), the frame 16 is raised in the elevating column 13 until the floor is reached where that car is to be parked (the computer system has selected the cell 11, where to park that car by examining the whole building situa¬ tion) .
At that point, frame 16 stops, thus establishing a continuity between movable guide sections 18b on the frame 16 and fixed guide sections 18a on that floor.
Than, frame 19 moves on the guides 18a and 18b toward the position of the selected cell 11 and stops in front of it, thus establishing a continuity between movable guide sections 21b on the frame 19 and fixed guide sections 21a in that cell 11.
Than, platform 24 raises and frame 22 moves along the guides 21a and 21b into the cell 11, bars 26 passing above bars 34 (Figure 5) . When the frame 22 is completely within the cell 11, it stops and platform 24 goes down. In this phase, bars' 26 of the platform 24 passes between bars 34 of the cell 11, leaving the car parked thereon (Figure 6) .
Frame 22 with the lowered empty platform 24 moves back onto frame 19, which in turn moves back onto frame 16 and all together move down to the loading/unloading station to receive a further car to be parked.
All the above movements and the positions reached by the moving elements are detected by suitable sensors, provided throughout the whole building structure.
A driver wishing to have his car back from the parking building structure 10, presents the electronic ticket received on parking.
Than, the system performs in the opposite sense the
operations described above, and brings the car at the load¬ ing/unloading station where the driver can go in and drive away along one of exit ways 15.
A further advantage of the parking building structure of the invention is the overall flexibility; if it is desired to increase the operational speed of an already existing parking building structure according to the invention, it may be sufficient to add a number of first and second transferring means or to add a number of elevating columns (and to vary the managing computer program accordingly) . In fact, all means are fully independent, and each of them can cooperate with any of the others; for example, the elevating means may release a car on certain transferring means onto a floor and immediately after receive another car on other transferring means and take it to the loading/unloading station.
Another advantage of the structure is the possibility to fully operate, although at a reduced speed, also when some moving parts go out of work. For example, if an elevating column is unusable, for any reason, the computer program operates so that other columns near to the unusable one cover all the cells which should normally be covered by the unusable column. To this aim,- emergency sections of the first guides must be provided, such emergency sections- shall be normally in a hidden non-operative position at each floor near to each elevating column; "when an elevating column goes out of work, the emergency sections are switched to an operative positions in which they establish the continuity between the fixed sections of the guides, thus replacing the movable sections. Besides, to permit functional interchangeability also between columns of different service spaces, it may be provided that adjacent cells facing to different service spaces are not separated by any wall and their respective fixed sections of the second guides are provided in continuity each other, so that in emergency situations second transferring means may pass from a service space to another using a pair of cells as a corridor.
