  • the programmable cable switch in accordance with the present invention is formed of a switch assembly 1 which includes a plurality of line switches 2.
  • the switches are rep ⁇ resented by an "X" in Figure 1.
  • X For clarity, only a few of the line switches are illustrated in Figure 1. It should be understood, how ⁇ ever, that line switches may be located at each intersection of a hor ⁇ izontal and vertical line as shown in Figure 1.

  • the connectors are connected to a printed circuit board 5 which has circuit traces connecting the individual lines from the connectors to switch assem ⁇ bly 1 in the manner shown in Figure 1.
  • Switch assembly 1 may be a printed circuit board matrix type switch as is well known in the art, such as one manufactured by the Amp Corporation.
  • the matrix switch may be an 8 by 8, 9 by 9, 10 by 10 or any other matrix combination as needed.
  • a snap on cover 6 is designed to fit over printed circuit board 5 to provide protection for switch assembly 1 after the individual line switches have been set.

The cover may also be designed to cover a portion of connectors 3 and 4 as represented by the dotted lines in Figure 6.
  • Figure 3 illustrates another switching scheme.
  • a line switch may be located at each intersection of a horizontal and vertical line.
  • switch closures at locations represented by an "X" results in pins 2 and 3 from input connector 3 being connected to pins 3 and 2, respectively, from output connector 4.
