Abstract

In a process for preparing plastics comonomers and plastics from raw fats and oils containing unsaturated fatty acids, raw unsaturated fats and oils are oxidized with performic acid or peracetic acid to epoxy or hydroxy compounds. To prepare plastics, the epoxy or hydroxy compounds are then converted to polymers with duo- or multifunctional compounds capable of reacting with epoxy or hydroxy groups.
