Abstract

A working machine is adapted to operate standing on the ground (8) in a substantially stationary operating position. The machine has a driver's seat (4) releasably supported by the chassis (2) of the machine, and a stabilising means (6, 7) connected with the seat is arranged to be applied, when the machine is in its operating position, against the ground (8) so as to rest thereon and support the driver's seat (4) in a position where this is free from the chassis (2), so as to prevent any transmission of noise or vibrations from the chassis to the seat.

Description

WORKING MACHINE WITH STABILISED DRIVER'S SEAT
The present invention relates to a working machine, such as a forest machine, which is adapted to operate standing on a supporting surface, e.g. the ground, in a substantially stationary operating position, and which . has a driver's seat supported by the chassis of the machine. In known forest machines, e.g. harvesters and for¬ warders, the driver sits on a seat supported by the ma¬ chine chassis and mounted in the driver's cab. In modern machines, the cab and the seat are designed to provide maximum comfort for the driver. Therefore, the driver's seat has ergonomically correct cushions and can be ad¬ justed in such manner that it is possible for the driver to work long hours with maintained efficiency. The cab is usually air-conditioned and provides a clear view in all directions, and all control and operating units are placed in ergonomically correct positions. In these modern ma¬ chines, however, the driver is regrettably subjected to severe strain mainly caused by noise and vibrations ori¬ ginating from the engine and the working tools mounted on the machine chassis. The object of the present invention is therefore to provide a working machine considerably reducing this strain.
This object is achieved by means of a working machine of the type mentioned by way of introduction, which is characterised in that the driver's seat is releasably sup¬ ported by the chassis, and that a stabilising means con¬ nected with said seat is arranged to be applied, when the machine is in its operating position, against the sup¬ porting surface so as to rest thereon and support the driver's seat in a position where this is free from the chassis, so as to prevent any transmission of noise or vibrations from the chassis to the seat. Preferably, the stabilising means is a lifting means which comprises at least one jack.
The invention will be described in more detail below, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. 1 is a schematic top plan view showing a working machine according to the invention,
Fig. 2 is a schematic side view showing said working machine in a stationary operating position.
The very schematically drawn working machine, which for instance may be a forest machine, such as a harvester or a forwarder, or another type of working machine, e.g. an excavator or a mobile hoisting crane, has six wheels 1 and a chassis of which two longitudinal beams 2 can be seen in the drawing. Furthermore, the machine has a driver's cab 3 and a driver's seat 4 mounted in said cab. The driver's seat 4, which may be of any known type, is attached to a horizontal and substantially rectangular mounting plate 5 which, on both sides of the machine, ex¬ tends outside the chassis. The mounting plate 5 supports not only the driver's cab 3 but also, at each of its four corners, a vertical hydraulic jack 6 whose cylinder 6a is connected with said mounting plate 5. The piston rod 6b of the jack 6 is downwardly extensible so as to rest on the ground 8, as shown in Fig. 2, on a supporting plate 7 which is hingedly connected with the free end of the piston rod 6b.
At least one downwardly projecting pin 9 is provided on the underside of the mounting plate 5, just opposite each longitudinal beam 2, and each longitudinal beam 2 has, in its upper side, a recess 10 just opposite each pin 9. The lower end of each pin 9 is bevelled, and the upper portion of each recess 10 has an upwardly broadening cross-sectional shape.
When the machine is moved between different operating positions, the piston rods 6b are retracted into the cy¬ linders 6a so that the supporting plates 7 do not touch the ground 8. The mounting plate 5, and consequently the driver's seat 4, is then supported by the longitudinal beams 2 of the chassis, the pins 9 being received in the recesses 10.
When the machine is in a stationary operating po- sition (Fig. 2), the piston rods 6b are pushed out of the cylinders 6a, so that the supporting plates 7 are applied against the ground 8, and the mounting plate 5 and the associated driver's seat 4 are lifted up from the chassis when the piston rods 6b are further pushed out of the cylinders. When the machine is operating, the driver's seat 4 is thus stably supported by the ground 8 and com¬ pletely free from the machine chassis which consequently cannot transmit any vibrations or noise from the engine and the working tools mounted on said chassis to the driver's seat and the driver. Since the four jacks 6 can be operated individually, the mounting plate 5 and, con¬ sequently, the driver's seat 4 can be adjusted horizon¬ tally even if the ground is sloping.
When the machine is to be moved, the piston rods 6b are first pulled into the cylinders 6a, such that the mounting plate 5 is lowered towards the longitudinal beams 2 of the chassis and the pins 9 are inserted in the re¬ cesses 10. This insertion of the pins is facilitated by the bevelled shape of the pins 9 and the broadening form of the recesses 10, so that the pins can be inserted in the recesses even if the main portion of the machine and the unit supported on the ground by means of the jacks 6 should be slightly displaced relative to one another during the operation of the machine.
