  • the connector according to the present invention helps to avoid curving or deformation of the housing and irregular alignment of adjacent contacts because the engaging members of the engaging section apply pressure only to the channel width direction, i.e., the housing height direction. Since more contact cavities are generally formed in the length direction than the height direction of the housing, the present invention is particularly effective for those connectors having a large number of contacts.
  • the engaging ends of the engaging section are twisted or separated and formed in a stepped manner to provide resiliency and to have a greater height than the width of the channels, the frictional strength between the channels increases thereby strengthening the engagement between the engaging members and the channels and, in turn, reliably securing the female electrical contacts in the housing.
  • bent ends at the wing members of the base section provide resiliency to planar pressure, thereby strongly stabilizing the contact in the housing, if they are pressed in the spaces.

Abstract

Raccord électrique comprenant un logement isolant (30) pourvu de plusieurs cavités (33) dans lesquelles on introduit et fixe des contacts électriques (10, 10'). Chaque contact (10, 10') se compose d'une partie de base (11, 11') qui s'engage dans une première paroi (31a) de la cavité (33), d'une partie recevant le contact (12), d'une partie s'engageant dans le conducteur (13), et d'une partie d'engagement (14, 14') dont les éléments d'engagement (22, 22') sont poussés dans des canaux (34) se trouvant dans la troisième paroi et la quatrième paroi (32a, 32b) de la cavité (33), de manière à fixer ledit contact (10, 10') dans ladite cavité (33). Des éléments à oreilles (15) comportent des extrémités (15a) qui se logent dans des espaces (38) ménagés dans la cavité (33).
