Abstract

Le matériau d'isolation comporte un bloc plat (10) en forme de parallélogramme, présentant une pluralité de barres (13) en mousse P.V.C. rigide disposées en parallèle en travers du bloc et espacées, ces barres (13) étant interconnectées de manière souple au niveau de leurs bases (15), le bloc s'enroulant sur lui-même. Ce bloc est de préférence constitué d'une seule pièce de mousse P.V.C. rigide dont une face principale est pourvue de rainures (stries) profondes en (14) pour former les barres (13) et l'interconnexion souple (15). De préférence également, les barres (13) sont disposées angulairement par rapport à l'axe transversal du bloc afin que ce dernier s'enroule sur lui-même en spirale. Sur l'autre face importante du bloc est appliquée une structure réticulaire en tissu synthétique (16) dans une composition élastomère non vulcanisée. Des blocs sont placés bout à bout et assemblés en (17) par un adhésif afin de former une bande continue de matériau isolant. Le procédé d'isolation d'un pipeline (12) consiste à appliquer un revêtement anti-corrosion (18) sur une canalisation (12), à assembler une pluralité des blocs de matériau isolant (10) en une bande continue (11), à enrouler en spirale le matériau isolant en une couche sur la canalisation revêtue (12), les barres (13) de chaque bloc venant en prise avec la canalisation revêtue, à appliquer un revêtement protecteur extérieur en élastomère et à vulcaniser le revêtement achevé. L'isolant et son procédé d'application conviennent notamment à d'autres types de canalisations et de conduits dans les cas où il est nécessaire ou souhaitable d'effectuer une isolation ou de prévenir la condensation.
