Description

Seringue à usage unique Single use syringe
The present invention relates to a disposable syringe, of the type comprising a tubular body terminated by an outlet nozzle, and a piston mounted to slide in the body and provided with a reed head relative to the body.
We know that the so-called single-use or "disposable" syringes whose body and plunger are made of plastic, must only be used once, because of the difficulty of sterilizing them again after first use. However, we note that in certain circumstances, this safety imperative is not respected, which can lead to serious complications for the patient. The invention therefore aims to provide a disposable syringe made so that it is automatically rendered unusable for new use, at the end of the piston stroke.
According to the invention, the syringe comprises means for rendering the piston non-tight relative to the body at the end of the stroke of the piston towards the outlet stage.
Indeed, the removal of the piston seal relative to the body during the first use of the syringe makes it completely unusable for a second use.
According to a first embodiment, said means consist of notches formed together, on the one hand on the periphery of the piston head, and on the other hand on the internal wall of the body in an area close to the outlet nozzle, and these notches are shaped so as to allow the progression of the piston head towards the outlet nozzle and then to prohibit its return in the direction opposite.
If under these conditions, at the end of the piston stroke after the head of the latter has exceeded the notches of the body, a pull is exerted on the piston to bring it back to its starting position, the notches of the body being in engagement with those of the piston head, oppose this backtracking. If the traction on the piston is nevertheless sufficient to bring it back below the notches of the body, this return causes the destruction of the notches of the head of the piston and consequently the loss of the seal of the piston with respect to the body, necessary for the operation of the syringe.
According to another embodiment, the piston comprises two tubular parts of different diameters and smaller than that of the body, the tubular part contiguous to the head of the piston having a diameter less than that of the other tubular part, while that the piston head is provided with a peripheral collar in which a groove is formed constituting a rupture line, and the terminal part of the body situated in the vicinity of its outlet nozzle has a slightly greater internal diameter to that of the tubular part of the piston contiguous to the head of the latter, this end part of the body being separated by a transverse step from the rest of the body.
D'autres particularités et avantages deAccording to a third possible embodiment of the invention, said means comprise an internal allowance for at least part of the region of the interior wall of the body situated in the vicinity of the outlet nozzle, this allowance being connected by a transverse step to the wall of the body, and in the head of the piston is provided, to the right of said extra thickness, a notch constituting a breaking point, so that a sector delimited by this notch separates from the head when the latter exceeds the transverse step. Other features and advantages of
The disposable syringe shown in Figures 1 to 2B comprises a tubular body 1 terminated at one of its ends by an outlet nozzle 2 for the liquid, to which a needle not shown can be adapted. Its opposite end is provided with two radial ears 3 allowing the manipulation of the syringe. This also includes a piston 4 mounted; sliding in the body 1, consisting of a head 5 which can slide in leaktight manner in the body 1 and of a support 6 at one end of which the head 5 is fixed.
Cette seringue est pourvue de moyens per¬ mettant de rendre la tête 5 du piston 4 non étanche par rapport à la paroi intérieure du corps 1 e fin de course du piston 4 vers 1'ajutage de sortie 2.The support 6 can be produced in different ways, for example by bars available in a cross, and an annular collar 7 is fixed to the end of the support 6 opposite the head 5, the circumference of the collar 7 projecting radially from the sup¬ port 4. This syringe is provided with means per¬ making the head 5 of the piston 4 not leaktight relative to the inner wall of the body 1 e end of stroke of the piston 4 towards the outlet nozzle 2.
Au repos, chaque dent du crantage 9 présente un flanc 9a perpendicu- laire à l'axe X-X du piston 4 (Figure 2B) , et un flanc 9b incliné sur l'axe X-X et d'une longueur supérieure à celle du flanc 9a.In this exemplary embodiment, these means consist of combined notches 8, 9 formed, on the one hand on the periphery of the head 5 (notching), and on the other hand on the internal wall of the body 1 (notch 8) in an annular zone close to the nozzle 2. The notch 9 forms a toothing which can flex elastically on the wall of the body 1 during the forward stroke of the piston 15, in order to ensure sealing with it. ci (Figure 2A). At rest, each tooth of the notch 9 has a side 9a perpendicular to laire to the axis XX of the piston 4 (Figure 2B), and a side 9b inclined on the axis XX and of a length greater than that of the side 9a.
The notch 8 of the body 1 is formed of teeth, each of which has a side 8a perpendicular to the axis X-X, and a side 8b inclined on this axis and of a length greater than that of the side 8a.
The inclinations of the flanks 8b and 9b are opposite, and the diameter defined by the tops of the teeth 8a, 8b is slightly greater than the internal diameter of the body 1. In addition, the flanks 9a have, in section, a length greater than that of the flanks 8a.
In the syringe storage position, the head 5 is placed just before the notch 8, and one end 11 of the piston protrudes outside the body 1. The syringe is provided with a removable member 12 for holding the piston 4 in this position, for example a split crown enveloping the end 11 and bearing, on the one hand on the terminal part of the body 1, at the ears 3, and on the other hand on the collar 7. The crown 12 is made of any suitable material, such as cardboard or plastic material. The procedure for using this syringe is as follows.
After removing the crown 12 and fixing a needle on the nozzle 2, the user pulls the piston 4 backwards until the syringe is filled. The injection can then be carried out, the notch 9 sliding in leaktight fashion on the internal wall of the body 1 with elastic deflection of its teeth on the latter. When the head 5 reaches the level of the notch 8, the tops of the teeth of the notch tage slide elastically on the inclined sides 8b (Figure 2A), until the head 5 reaches the end of the stroke slightly beyond the notch 9 (Figure 2B). If the user then tries to bring the piston 4 back, the notches 8 and 9 engage one inside the other as visible in FIG. 2B: the flanks 9a which were inclined during the stroke aT-Iex . straighten perpendicular to the axis XX and nest in the notch 8 against the sides 8a, which oppose the return of the piston 4. If the user nevertheless exerts sufficient traction to force the piston 4 so that its head 5 exceeds the cran¬ floor 9, this displacement causes the destruction of the teeth of the notch 9, which by their conformation can not bend in this direction of movement. This destruction removes the seal between the head 5 and the body 1, making the syringe completely useless for second use. In — the second embodiment (FIGS. 3, 4A, 4B), the piston 13 comprises two tubular parts 14, 15 of different diameters and smaller than that of the body 16. The tubular part 15 adjoins the head 17 of piston 13 extends over a length much less than that of second part 14, - and its diameter is less than that of said part 14. Head 17 is provided with a peripheral flange 18 which can slide in leaktight manner in the body 16. In the face of the flange 18 facing the nozzle 2, an annular groove 19 is formed, constituting a breaking line.
L'extrémité 21 s'étend sur une longueur sensiblement égale à celle de la partie tubulaire 15, et elle est séparée par un gradin transversal 22 du reste du corpsThe end 21 of the body 16 located near the nozzle 2 has an internal diameter slightly larger than that of the tubular part 15, and 7 practically equal to the diameter of the groove 19. The end 21 extends over a length substantially equal to that of the tubular part 15, and it is separated by a transverse step 22 from the rest of the body
On this step 22 can come into abutment a corresponding transverse step 23 constituting the transition between the tubular parts 15 and 16.
The operation of the syringe of Figures 33 to 4B is as follows.
Après enlèvement de la couronne 12 et remplissage de la seringue, la collerette 18 coulisse de manière 1 0 In the storage position, the crown 12 maintains the piston 14 in a position such that its head 17 is slightly above the step 22. After removing the crown 12 and filling the syringe, the collar 18 slides so
La progression de15 sealed in the body 16. When the head 17 arrives at the level of the step 22, the latter forms a stop for the collar 18 and causes the collar 18 to break at the groove 19, so that the collar 18 separates from the rest of the head 17. The progression of
20 cette dernière se poursuit de manière étanche dans la partie terminale 21, tandis que le collet 18 est rete¬ nu dans le volume annulaire laissé libre entre les gradins 22 et 23, la paroi du corps 16 et la partie tubulaire 15.20 the latter continues in a sealed manner in the terminal part 21, while the collar 18 is rete¬ naked in the annular volume left free between the steps 22 and 23, the wall of the body 16 and the tubular part 15.
After the end of the stroke of the head 17 in the end portion 21, if the user wants to bring the piston 13 back, the seal between the head 17 and the body 16 disappears as soon as the head 17 has crossed the step 22, due to the separation of the glue
30 rette 18. The syringe is therefore made totally unusable, the diameter of the tubular part 14 being in fact less than the inside diameter of the part of the body 16 outside its end 21.
La surépaisseur 25 est reliée à la partie coxx-espσndante plus mince de la paroi du corps 24 par une marche transversale 26.In the third embodiment of the syringe (Figures 5 to 7), it comprises a body 24 whose section is ovalized and which has, in the region of its inner wall located in the vicinity of the outlet nozzle 2, an inner thickness 25. The latter extends over a determined angular sector (which can vary quite widely) and axially up to the end of the body 24 into which opens H '-jutage 2. The additional thickness 25 is connected to the thinner coxx-spσndante part of the wall of the body 24 by a transverse step 26.
The piston 27 comprises two tubular parts 28, 29 and a head 31 fixed to the end of the part 2. The latter extends over a length approximately equal to that of the extra thickness 25, and is connected to the portion 28 of greater length, by a transverse step 32 adapted to be able to come into abutment on the step 26. The surface of the part 28 is separated by a certain distance from the internal wall of the body 24. The head 31 is provided with a peripheral sealing collar 33. In the face of the latter facing the nozzle 2, is formed, in line with the repeater 25, a notch 34 constituting an initiation of rupture of the corresponding sector of the collar 3J3-. The operation of this embodiment is the following.
During the descent of the head 31 towards the SE thickness 22, the collar 33 slides in leaktight manner on the internal surface of the body 24. When the head 31 reaches the level of the step 26, this causes the rupture of the sector 33a delimited by the notch 34. The descent of the piston 27 continues, the head 31 separated from the sector 33a slides in leaktight fashion on the surface of the extra thickness 25 and on the rest of the terminal part of the body 24, until the end of the piston stroke. During the end of this race, the sector 33a remains trapped in the annular space delimited by the internal face of the head 31 and the annular step 32 on the one hand, and by the internal surface of the body 24 and the tubular part 29 d 'somewhere else.
If the user then wants to return the pis¬ ton 27 to its initial position, this backtracking is possible but the seal between the head 31 and the body 24 disappears as soon as the head 31 has passed the step 26, making the syringe unusable for a new injection.
The invention is not limited to the embodiments described and may include alternative embodiments. Thus, the syringe of Figures 5 1 7 could include more than one thickened sector such as 25, for example two arranged on opposite sides of the body, the piston head then obviously having two corresponding separable sectors. Likewise, the sections of the body and of the piston may be any, and not exclusively tubular, for example cruciform for the piston.
