  • the "service" key 30 on the keypad 14 is pressed after entering the valid security code number. This action places the security apparatus 10 in a disabled state such that the vehicle may be started repeatedly without the necessity for entering the security code number.
  • the security apparatus may be re-activated by pressing the "re ⁇ arm" key 31 on the keypad 14. If the power supply 17 is disconnected while the security apparatus 10 is in the service mode, data stored in non-volatile memory within the security apparatus 10 re-initializes the latter in the service mode upon reconnection of the power supply 17, ensuring that the security apparatus does not default to the security mode with consequent inconvenience to service personnel.

Abstract

L'appareil de sécurité décrit (10), qui sert à immobiliser un véhicule, utilise un mot de passe ou un numéro de sécurité qui est introduit dans un clavier numérique (14) et codé par un codeur de tonalité (15). Le signal à tonalité codée est transmis le long d'un fil (13) jusqu'à une enceinte (25), dans laquelle sont enfermés un décodeur de tonalité (20) et un robinet de carburant à solénoïde (23) excité par le décodeur de tonalité (20). Le robinet de carburant à solénoïde (23) ne s'ouvre que lorsqu'a été introduit dans le clavier (14) un numéro de sécurité produisant un signal à tonalité codée auquel réagit le décodeur de tonalité (20). L'appareil de sécurité (10) peut être invalidé en mode de maintenance, pour permettre l'utilisation du véhicule sans communication du mot de passe au personnel de maintenance, et le mode en vigueur est stocké dans une mémoire rémanente, permettant ainsi à l'alimentation (17) d'être déconnectée à des fins de maintenance sans que l'appareil de sécurité (10) retourne en mode de sécurité.
