Abstract

In a novel process for making therapeutically effective curative cushions and curative textiles, 1 part by mass of therapeutically effective essential oil(s), oil(s) or plant extract(s) is mixed with 0.2-0.3 parts by mass of colloidal silicon dioxide and/or metallic silicate and/or diatomaceous earth and/or zeolite and/or perlite, the mixture is homogenized, and the product obtained is then applied in the solid phase to cushions and/or textiles by a method known per se.

Description

METHOD FOR PRODUCING HEALING PILLOWS AND HEALING TEXTILES

The invention relates to a new process for the production of therapeutic cushions and therapeutic textiles with a therapeutic effect.

Recently, the use of essential oils of natural origin has again attracted interest. Accordingly, numerous different types of use of these oils are known. However, application in different areas also requires the use of different formulations.

The best known and most commonly used method is to dissolve the essential oils in oils, greasy substances or organic solvents or to mix them with sugars or resins. Using these common methods, among others, galenic

In this regard, the conversion of aroma stalks into a cyclodextrin complex can best be regarded as a corresponding method (Herba Hung. 1984, Proc. Int. Symp. Cyclodextrines, 1982). The essence of this process is that aromatics made from plants by water vapor distillation, pressing or extraction are included in a cyclodextrin inclusion complex. The disadvantage of this method is that it is not suitable for the formation of flavoring substance concentrations above 10% and the flavoring substance components are bound specifically. Depending on the chemical structure of the flavoring substances, the minor component can accumulate in the complex.

The invention is based on the knowledge that the essential oils can be bound very simply and effectively by admixing colloidal silicon dioxide with a high degree of dispersion. The bond between the solid phase of the colloidal silicon dioxide and the polar or semipolar liquid phase is created by hydrogen bonds. The more hydroxyl groups the molecules of the polar or semipolar liquid contain, the more possibilities there are for the formation of hydrogen bonds, and this increases the strength of the bond between the solid and liquid phases.

Another advantageous property of colloidal silicon dioxide is that it has a large specific surface area, a low volume weight, a degree of dispersion of 0.007 - 0.04 μm and a high chemical purity, as well as being colorless, odorless and of amorphous structure.
