Abstract

Device permitting most people confined to bed to bag sealingly their faeces and/or urines. According to one of the embodiments, the device is comprised of a receptacle (1) to which is fixed a cover (2) by means of a tenon (7) at the rear part and, sideways, by means of two lever closures (6). The cover (2) comprises a handle consisting of a hollow tube (8) connected by two ribs (3) to a screen (4, 5). The cover (2) has also an orifice (9) extended by a collar (11) which is itself provided with a flange (10) and permitting the fixing of a bag (12) after it has been turned down (13). The holding in place of the bag (12) is done by a securing belt (17) which is itself closed at its extremities by means of a clamping system consisting of a threaded rod and an ear-nut (18) on a square (19); the fixing belt (17) is integral with a spacing lever (21). The device according to the invention is particularly intended to preserve the welfare of patients confined to bed, while permitting optionally the direct transfer of the bag to an analysis laboratory.

Description

BED BASIN PROVIDED WITH A BAGGING SYSTEM AND ITS STORAGE SUPPORTS

The present invention relates to a bed basin provided with a bagging system and its storage supports.

The collection of urine and stool is in fact carried out traditionally by means of a pelvis, either by the patient himself, or with the help of a third person (spouse, nurse, nursing assistant. ..).

In the current state the installation of the traditional basin often turns out awkward; on the other hand this basin does not allow immediate bagging of excrement. The first drawback results in a deran¬ gation and a more frequent provision of the person who takes care of the patient.

The second drawback not only requires unnecessary and unpleasant manipulations, but also deprives the patient of a few simple gestures that he can very often perform himself, which would help preserve his modesty and his privacy.

The device according to the invention overcomes these two drawbacks.

It indeed comprises a basin made of two distinct parts: the receptacle and the cover.

The cover has the particularity of covering the entire receptacle and of being able to be integral with it; according to a first embodiment, the assembly will be done at the rear by fitting a te¬ no, at the front by simple pressure and on both sides by two small lever closures. The second embodiment will be made by two studs at the rear and by a locking at the front by direct fitting. Finally, a final embodiment of assembly will be done at the rear by a simple rim of the cover downwards gripping the convexity of the receptacle, thus ensuring a good seal in the measurement where the upper edge of the receptacle rises forward enough.

The cover also has a largely dimensioned handle, placed at the front, in the middle of its greatest width; it makes it possible to hold the pelvis but also to remove it more easily when it is already in place under the patient. There is provision for easily catching the device. In a first variant, it is a pierced ear an orifice of sufficient diameter to allow the passage of a finger; this ear is located on each side at the rear of the receptacle. In a second variant, it is a hook-shaped spout, con¬ cave towards the front and also located at the rear and on each side of the receptacle.

This measure facilitates the placement and removal of the pelvis; in fact, the latter being placed between the legs of an elongated or semi-elongated patient, he only has to lift himself slightly on the heels and pull him under him or else push him back when he is already in place, using the two ears, or the two hook hooks. In addition, two small handles located on each side of the lid also facilitate handling of the basin. Finally, to prevent it from sliding too easily, the bottom of the receptacle will be molded in relief: grainy roughness in scales or in lines. The lid still has three characteristics:

1 / The handle of its handle is hollow, allowing the cover alone or the basin to be easily fitted onto a rod. Under the poi¬ gnée and a little behind it is, in the case of a closure of the basin at the front, the upper part of the lock. 2 / It is pierced with a large circular opening (or oval) extended down a wall without bottom but having a small rim at its lower part intended to better immobilize the sachet which must receive the stools and urine . This rim will be eliminated in the case of the alternative implementation of the rigid cardboard opening sachet described below.

3 / Finally, under the cover, being integral with it and corresponding to the circular (or oval) opening, there is a device allowing the bags to be fixed by a belt. This device involves a lever for spreading the fixing belt; this consists of a flexible metal blade (or any other, such as strap, rubber band ...) intended to tighten the sachet. For reasons of simplicity and speed of positioning of the sachet, a variant is envisaged. It is a sliding frame pivoting up and down around an axis and can be easily locked or unlocked at the rear. This sliding frame is intended for the rapid installation of a bag provided with an opening provided with rigid cardboard; he is of course centered on the circular (or oval) opening of the cover.

The storage of the pelvis as described with the hollow handle of its handle, is easily done by the patient in bed on a simplified support, the latter being able to be fixed on a wall or to be posed on a footboard (of chair. ..) or attach to a shelf.

In the case of a distribution of basins in series (hospitals, retirement homes, etc.), their arrangement in stages is conceived on a rod of a certain height surmounting a plate mounted on casters and / or skids; Several rings allow the positioning of the basins at the desired height, as well as storage racks and the soda holder. A bag bin is adapted to the surface of the trolley tray.

The placement of the sachets by the bedridden patient, whether without, or better with one of the supports described above, will be greatly facilitated by first putting the cover upside down. However, this maneuver will be useless in the case of the sliding frame.

It should be noted that in certain circumstances (macroscopic examination of stool or urine ...) the user can very well use the pelvis without the sachet but also that the placing of the sachet (sterilized) will often allow direct collection of stool or urine for medical analysis.

The basin as described will be made of plastic, if possible in a single injection molding operation for each part (cover and receptacle), or any other composite material capable of undergoing sterilization. There will be exceptions, all metal or rubber parts (lever closures, fixing belt and its clamping system, spreading lever ...) which will be fixed separately. The bags will also be made of plastic (or strong paper or any other biodegradable material likely to be eliminated in the toilet bowls) and for those provided with a cardboard opening with a diameter greater than one counter to that of the collar intended to receive them. Their length will be approximately forty centimeters to allow folding about fifteen centimeters before belting them. The purpose of this folding of the bag is to have a clean surface to close it without risk of soiling. The bag closure link is attached to it as for garbage bags. When installed in the sliding frame safe, the bag is of a shorter length and it is easily closed by a self-adhesive element placed on the cardboard surface, itself of less resistance at the location of the fold.

The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention: FIG. 1 shows a side view of the first embodiment of the device according to the invention, with the handle at the front.

FIG. 12 represents a carriage comprising a rod pierced approximately every fifty millimeters (with rings allowing the positioning at the desired height) and fixed vertically on a rolling platform.

This rod is intended to receive the covers with or without their receptacle, either for storing them, or for fixing the sachets; in addition, the use of soda tongs is possible.

Figure 13 shows the backside sliding cover on the rod: the most convenient way to quickly fix the bags.

FIG. 22 represents the carriage with its rod on which the cover is fitted with its slide frame. On the cou¬ smooth rod a shelf on which the receptacle is placed; under the table are two storage boxes. A waste bin rests on the carriage tray.

The device shown in FIG. 1 in profile shows the receptacle (1), the dimensions of which by way of illustration are approximately thirty five centimeters long, twenty five centimeters for the largest width, fifteen centimeters for the smallest and approximately ten centimeters at its greatest height in front and two or three centimeters at its height in the rear.

On this receptacle (1) the cover (2) is fixed in the first embodiment, by simple fitting of a stud (7) integral with the receptacle (1) in a hole in the cover (2); the locking is then carried out by means of two small lateral lever closures (6). The second method of assembly consists of two pins (7) at the rear and a latch (40) in two parts: the first (56) integral with the receptacle (1) comprises a block pierced with a recess making it possible to receiving the second part (57) integral with the cover (2); the whole is traversed in the closed position, by a pin (59) of push rod (58) ensuring the function of a lock bolt and com¬ carrying a thinned part (60) allowing the establishment of the key cover (2) on the receptacle (1). The two ends of the pusher (58) each have a stop (61) which keeps it in the system and prevents it from being ejected.

Integrating with the cover (2) and extending it up and forward is the handle consisting of a hollow tube (8) with a length of about twelve centimeters and connected by two ribs

(3) to a screen whose excavated face (5) joins the edges of the cover (2), thus avoiding projections as much as possible. The front part of the screen

(4) is convex towards the front, ensuring perfect compactness of the device when gripping. The cover (2) is pierced with an orifice (9) of about fourteen centimeters in diameter; this orifice (9) can also be oval. It will in any case be centered on the cover (2), the center being approximately 'twelve centimeters from its front edge. This ori¬ fice (9) is extended downwards by a collar (11) of about three centimeters high which, in the case of a bag (12) without opening with rigid tonnage, is extended at its lower part of a small rim (10) on the periphery of which the bag (12), previously folded (13), is enclosed.

At the rear of the receptacle (1), according to the first variant of the device, and located on its two sides, are the two ears (14) each pierced with a hole (15) of about two hundred meters in diameter ; the rear part (16) of the two ears is slightly concave towards the rear. The second variant of the device shows at the rear, for ease of use, a significant reduction in the height of the receptacle (1) and two hooks (49) for placing or disposing of it, there are also in this variant two tenons (7) to ensure better sealing, a locking of the bas¬ sin at the front (40), a sliding frame (41) with support for the axis (42) and hinge (45) under the cover (2), stops (43, 44), groove (46) for positioning the bag (12) provided with a rigid cardboard opening (50). Thus the patient, whether seated, half-lying or lying down will grasp the handle (3,8) of the pelvis (1,2) placed between his legs and suitably oriented with one or two hands, lift the buttocks, pressing lightly on the heels then bring the handle (3,8) towards him and finally rest the buttocks on the part of the cover (2) located at the rear of the orifice (9), which surface is slightly concave upwards to improve patient comfort. To avoid the cold feeling of plastic and sometimes rubbing painful, in particular in lean subjects, this surface can be covered with a rubberized material or any other comfortable and sterilizable material. The previous maneuver can also be done and often with greater ease by pulling the pelvis (1,2) either with the fingers through the small lateral holes (15), or by using the hooks (49). To divest the pelvis (1,2) it suffices to push either on the handle (3,8) or often more easily on the excavated part of the ears (16), or on the rear part of the hooks (49 ). Beforehand the patient will have himself (or the nursing assistant, the nurse ...) put the bag (12) in place, its dimensions being of the order of forty centimeters in length and sixteen centimeters in diameter. metre. These dimensions, however, will be less for the bag (12) provided with a rigid cardboard opening (50).

The underside of the cover (2) in fact comprises a device intended for bagging stools and urine.

According to the first embodiment, in front of the orifice (9) and pivoting under the cover (2) around a screw (23) on a thickening of the wall (22) is a spreading lever (21) at the end (20) of which is ribbed a metal sheet (17) about two centimeters wide. This metal blade (17) surrounds the collar (11) of the orifice (9) above its rim (10) and serves to securely hold the bag (12) in place. Its closing on the bag (12) is done by a clamping by threaded rod and wing nut (18) tightening on a square (19) riveted on the metal blade (1 7) and pierced with a notch for the passage of the threaded rod (18). A variant of the fixing of the metal blade (17) on the sa¬ chet (12) can be done by a lever closure (26) and an adjustment of the tightening by screw (24,25).

Anyway, it is therefore easy to set up the bag (12) by first inverting the cover (2) before fixing it to the receptacle (1). With the cover (2) turned upside down (fig. 13), it suffices to fold the bag (12) approximately fifteen centimeters along the line indicated on it, to press it into the hole (9) with your fist, leaving about four centimeters outside according to the second line indicated, fold this last part over the rim (10) of the collar (11) and finally attach it with the fixing device (17, 18,19.). This done, after having turned the cover (2) upside down, put the bag (12) also with the fist upside down and finally fix the cover (2) to the receptacle (1).

To remove the sachet (12) containing the excrement, it is necessary to first remove the cover (2) attached to the receptacle (1) and while leaving it above and close to the receptacle (1), to loosen the fastening elements (18,26). The bag (12) is then seized and then closed by means of a plastic (or fiber) link, easily detachable from the bag (12). The preparation and storage of the device according to the invention is done by means of a rod (29) of diameter slightly smaller than that (about sixteen millimeters) of the tube (8) of the handle (4,8) and which therefore allows its sliding. This rod (29) about thirty five centimeters long is fixed by means of a flat iron (30) welded to a plate (27) of about thirty centimeters by twenty centimeters. The latter (27) is screwed on a wall by four screws (28) or is posed for example on a footboard by means of a flat iron in U (31) or is still fixed to a shelf by a vice simplified (32). Finally, for rapid positioning of the sachets (12) and distribution in series, a carriage is used which comprises: a tu¬ be (33) about one hundred and fifty centimeters long and fixed securely by a welded sleeve (34) to a plate (35) of about forty centimeters by thirty; this plate (35) is mounted on four casters or on two casters and two pads or on four pads (36). The tube_ (33) is drilled every fifty millimeters of holes (37) serving to immobilize the covers (2) by means of rings (38) allowing the positioning at the desired height. Finally, it is possible to adapt on the tube (33) a soda bag clamp (39) and storage compartments (54).

According to the second embodiment of the bagging which relates to the bag (12) with rigid cardboard opening (50) there is a sliding frame (41) pivoting about an axis (42) located under the cover (2). This slide frame (41) is provided with a groove (46) into which the cardboard opening (50) of the bag (12) is introduced. Two stops (43,44), one (43) forming an integral part of the cover (2), the other (44) forming part of the slide frame (41) allow a limited reduction. For its positioning during use, it is sufficient to raise it and exert a slight pressure at the end of the travel to immobilize it by means of a ratchet or pusher (47). Its release will likewise be obtained by means of the same pawl or pusher (47). For patients provided only with standard sachets (12), it suffices to introduce into the groove (46) a plastic plate (51) of dimension identical to that of the carton (50) of the sachet (12) and through a ring (52) of rubber or soft plastic placed under the opening of the bag (12), to obtain, after having positioned it around the collar (11) and having raised the slide frame (41 ), keeping it in place by sufficient compression. For rapid positioning of the sachets (12) with cardboard opening (50) and distribution in series, the 'cha¬ riot already described (33, 34, 35 and 36) is used; this comprises a work tablet (53) on which the receptacle (1) is placed in order to receive the sachets used (12.50) and below which two sockets (54) serve to reserve of sachets (12.50) or plastic plates (51) or rubber rings (52). Finally, a waste container (55) is used placed on the plate (35).

The device according to the invention is particularly intended for the use of hospitals, hospices, clinics, infirmaries and retirement homes but also for individuals. Bagging the stools and / or urine, as often as possible by the bedridden patients themselves, can only lighten the work of the staff or those around them. This bagging will also preserve the hygiene and comfort of the patient as much as possible by avoiding multiple washes and persistent odors and will sometimes allow direct transmission of the sachet to the laboratory for analysis.
