Description

Improvements in or relating to a window board
The present invention relates to a window board situated insi a room in front of a window and extending across the bottom and preferably along that edge or lower part of a wind opening in a building existing between the frame inside of t window and the inner wall of the room.
During strong chillness outdoors big quantities of moistu from the air indoors can be condensated on the inside windows, especially on such parts of the window which are n directly in contact with the warm airstream rising from radiator. The condensated moisture both can cause decay dama in lower part of the window sash and the frame and also gath dust particles discolouring the window sash. The problem especially difficult when the window-bays are deep owing to b thickness of -the isolation in the wall.
The object of the present invention is to eliminate the dra backs mentioned above and to provide a window board of the ty mentioned above. The distinguishing features characterizing f the invention are that the window board is supported by least two, supporting elements formed as spacers, situat between the lower part of the window opening and the undersi of the window board in forming at least one space between t underside of the window board and the lower part of the windo opening, that the elongated edge of the window board turne towards the window ending a short distance in front of th frame inside of the window, is in points contacting said insid by tongue formations protruding from said edge or is integrall formed with the frame and is provided with a number of throug holes in longitudinal direction of the window board in front o the window in the bridging area to the frame and that th elongated edge of the window board turned towards the room i passing the inner wall and ends a short distance outside th inner wall and having a downwardly directed part for catchin and transporting hot air, streaming upwards from a radiato situated beneath the window, through a space under the windo "" 5 board and forwards to the bottom edge of the window in avoidin starting of condence on the inside of the window.
The invention provides a window board which in a remarkable wa fulfills the object, but is at the same time still simple an inexpensive to manufacture. The front downwardly directed edg
10 part of the window board catches a part of the hot airstrea coming from a radiator and guides said airstream to the lowers part of the window which in this way does not become so cold o cooled that condensation occurs. A window board according t the present invention either can be a part of the origina
T5 structure of the building or consist of an unfixed supplemen bn top of a permanent conventional window board. In both case it is suitable to make the upper part of the window boar releasable in order to make cleaning easier.
The invention will now be described by way of example wit 20 particular reference to the accompanying drawings wherein
Pig. 1 shows a schematic vertical section of a part of window opening including an improvement of window board according to the present invention.
Fig. 2 shows a schematic perspective view partly i 25 section of a window opening including the windo board illustrated in Fig.l and
Fig. 3 shows a schematic perspective view partly i section of another embodiment of the invention where the window board is formed in one piece wit
30 the window frame.
A window board 1 according to the invention illustrated in th drawings is situated indoors in front of a window 6 and extends along the lower part of the window 6 and that edge or lower part 4 of a window opening 16 in a building situated betwe the frame inside 10 of the window 6 and the inner wall 11 of room. The window board 1 is supported by the lower part 4 the window opening 16 by aid of a number or at least tw supporting elements or strips 3 formed as spacers. These a preferably directed perpendicularly to the window 6.
At least one space 9 is provided between the lower part 4 the window opening and the underside 12 of the window boar The longitudinal edge 14 of the window board 1 turned directed towards the window 6 ends a short distance in front the frame inside 10 of the window 6, so that hot air streami through the space 9 in a direction towards the window 6, c stream upwards from the space 9 and towards the window 6. T edge 14 can also in points contact the frame inside 10 tongue formations not illustrated in the drawings protrudi from said edge 14. The window board 1 also can be integral formed together with the frame 8 of the window 6 and in th case the window board comprises i.e. a row of through holes in the longitudinal direction of the window board 1 in front the window 6 in the bridging area to the frame 8, through whi holes 13 the hot air can stream out of the space 9 and in direction up towards the window 6.
The opposite other longitudinal edge 15 of the window board is turned or directed towards the room and is extending pas the inner wall 11 and ends with a downwardly directed part 2 The hot, rising air coming from a radiator 5 situated on th inner wall 11 below the window 6, is partly caught by the par 2 and is led into the space 9 up to the window 6, which thereb being heated also in its lower part, so that moisture conden sation is avoided. If there is a bookshelf 7 in the room i front of ' the window 6 it is sufficient that the downwardl directed part 2 of the window board 1 reaches the shelf 7, s that the hot air reaching the opening between the shelf 7 an the inner wall 11, is diverted towards the window 6. The underside 12 of the window board can consist of a materia having a little heat conductibility so that the air stream o flow is not cooled before reaching the window 6. Suitabl material is plywood, wood fibre board or plastic, eventuall having a supporting surface layer of wear resistant material. By the window board according to the present invention yo avoid moisture condensation and decay both in window board, window frame and window sash.
