This value is so exact that it can be used, in con ⁇ nection with a length measurement, e.g. by means of a photo cell and a pulse meter, for wood value determina ⁇ tions, i.e. for establishing the compensation a supplier should receive for the timber he has supplied.
- Other major advantages of the apparatus according to the invention are that it can easily be mounted on existing barking machines and that it is very in ⁇ expensive to manufacture since the rollers included therein can be used as sensing means together with a relatively inexpensive potentiometer which can easily be mounted on the barking machine without any major modifications thereof.

Abstract
Un dispositif d'alimentation en grumes (2), de préférence faisant partie d'une machine à écorcer du type à anneau rotatif (1), comporte un appareil servant à mesurer le diamètre des grumes et comportant au moins trois, et de préférence exactement trois, rouleaux rotatifs (3), pouvant se déplacer de manière coordonnée et essentiellement radiale par rapport au centre de la machine (1) au moyen d'un système de liaison (9). Un capteur (11) relié à un dispositif de calcul permet de détecter les positions et/ou mouvements radiaux des rouleaux (3) et de transmettre en continu ou de façon intermittente audit dispositif de calcul les valeurs mesurées reçues lorsqu'on fait passer une grume dans le dispositif d'alimentation (2).
