Description

7/
"A STACKABLE PLASTIC DECK-CHAIR"
The present invention relates to deck-chairs made of plast material having a portion meant to receive a person in a resting semi-reclined position. Said deck-chairs can be fitted wi accessories (cushions, mattresses, or others).
5. The deck-chairs already known are built in wood, painted metal plastic material. They are formed by a frame made up of vario pieces hinged to each other and by a portion, in textile similar, suitable to receive a person. These deck-chairs foldable; they form a narrow rectangular body of not really e
10. sides as the folding operation is never accurate. These chairs n then to be stored side by side and cannot be stacked, t occupying unnecessary space. A certain amount of time is al required for their opening and folding. Moreover the cushions, wi which they are normally fitted, have to be removed and sto
15. separately.
^ Stackable one piece chairs do exist, but they all have th characteristic of keeping the person in a straight position and no semi-reclined, as it should be for a deck-chair.
Aim of the present invention is thus to carry out a stackabl 5. economical chair which eliminates the necessity of the foldin operation before storage.
The advantages of this solution are: a) at the building phase, th assembly costs are reduced, b) at usage, the facility of storin for both deck-chair and its accessories (cushions, mattress, etc. 10. is increased.
The aim is attained by carrying out a deck-chair having legs, sea and back made in a single piece, the back being connected to th rest of the chair only by a flexible plastic portion, while at th sides of the back and at the sides of the seat two engaging member 15. and two holding means, respectively, are foreseen to cooperate wit one another at each side of the chair.
Preferably the holding means is carried out in the form of support, while the engaging members is an arm hinged to the bac and capable of engaging the support so as to hold and position th 20. back.
Other advantageous solutions have been described in the claim which follow.
A preferred embodiment of the invention is shown in the enclose 7/05787

drawings, where:
Fig. 1 shows a front view of the deck-chair;
Fig. 2 shows a side view of the chair with the back straight a reclined; 5, Fig. 3 shows a plan view of the chair;
Fig. 4 shows an enlarged, partially in section, detail of the pa comprising the arm, the latter being shown in exploded vie
From examination of the drawings, the characteristics of t present invention can be seen with clearness and in detail.
10. In Fig. 1 and 2 the portion making up the seat 1 and the porti making up the reclinable back 4 are visible; these portions a joined only by a flexible portion 8. The reclinable back h reinforced upper and lateral edges 4a, 4b, 4c which are joined by sheet portion 4d. The seat 1 has also lateral and front portio
15. la, lb, lc and a sheet portion Id. Said flexible portion 8 preferably made up of a plastic sheet in one piece with she portions 4d and Id. This portion 8 allows the rotation of the ba for a length of circumference.
The position of the legs is that already known from the stackab 20. chairs. The front legs 2 and 2a are joined to the seat sides means of connecting bars 12 (Fig. 3). The back legs 3 and 3a a placed at the back of the seat and are directly linked to seat The supporting elements 7 linking the seat to the supports 6 re at the sides of said seat 1. All these parts are moulded in 25. single piece; no assembly is thus needed for all the par mentioned till here. The arms 5 and 5a are the only parts which are not included in the one piece block; they are fitted with a pivot 9 integral with horizontal tongues 10; the tongues are used to fix the arms to the back 4. For this aim the back is foreseen with vertical slots 16 5. meant to receive said tongues 10. These slots 16 are provided at the end of reinforced edges 4a and 4c.
Each arm is fitted at its bottom with tongues 15 which are held and engaged by side juts 13 foreseen on supports 6 so as to fix the back 4 of the chair in the desired position.
10. The seat in its lateral back portion is provided with shaped cavities 11 and 11a meant to receive the back legs 3 and 3a of another deck-chair during stacking up.
This deck-chair can thus receive a person seating in a straight-up position and also in a semi-reclined or resting one. To pass from a 15. position to the other it will be sufficient to lift the arms 5 and 5a, let the back 4 rotate around the flexible portion 8, then engage one of the tabs 15 of the arm with the juts 13, thus stopping the inclination of the back 4.
