Definitions
- This invention refers to a device for cutting and decomposition of primarily junk such as reinforcement bars, steel beams, angle irons, shafts and materials from demolitions and scrapping of machines and plants.
- the invention refers to a device of the above-mentio character, which is mounted upon a movable arm of a digging machine or similar working machine such that the decomposition may take place wit hout transportation of the material to be demolished to the device.
- Devices of this kind are previously known. They are however affected with a plurality of drawbacks. They are for instance relatively heavy which primarily depends upon the fact that the cutting elements durin the cutting or shearing operation pass beyond each other which makes i necessary to arrange dollies to prevent that the material to be cut ra and thus tends to pry the cutting elements out of each other. They are further relatively expensive to manufacture and owing to the necessary heavy dimensioning and the presence of dollies and guides for the side ways displaced cutting means the cutting or shearing unit will be so bulky that it will be difficult for it to penetrate into a mass of jun respectively to grab components which are located in narrow spaces and the 1 ike.
- the primary object of the invention thus has been to overcome these drawbacks and to create a device which combines a light weight with a sturdy and ductile construction and further offers a good accessibilit
- Fig. 1 shows the device schematically and in a front view whereas Fig. 2 is a section along l l-ll of fig. 1
- Fig. 3 is a cross section through a somewhat modified device and Fig. - ⁇ finally shows a detail of the device according to fig. 3 on a bigger scale.
- the illustrated device comprises a cutting- or shearing unit, generally designated 1, which has a bracket 2 for detachable attachment to the fre end of a lifting arm of a working machine such as a digging machine.
- a bracket 2 Con nected to the bracket is a stationary part 3 > which comprises two side ⁇ ways spaced apart, mutually parallell walls or lugs 3a,3b between which is provided an arm k , which by means of a shaft 5 extending through the arm and the walls 3a,3b is pivotal ly mount in relation to the stationary part.
- a hydraulic cylinder 6, which is po ⁇ wered from the working machine at 7 is pivotal ly connected to the statio nary part 3 of the cutting unit and the plunger 8 thereof is by means of a shaft 9 pivoted to an intermediate member 10, which is connected to th arm k in such a manner that the distance between said intermediate mem- ber and the arms may be varied.
- the stationary part 3 and the arm h each support a cutting means 11a re ⁇ spectively lib.
- These cutting means are as appears from fig. 2 in the shape of in section triangular elements having their points facing each other and so aligned that said points will be situated in the same plan such that they in the final position may contact each other.
- the cutting means 11a,11b are secured to the stationary part 3 respectively to the pivotable arm k via shims 12a respectively 12b which in addition to the adjustability between the arm k and the shims 9 makes it possible to ad ⁇ just the cutting means also after wear such that they in the final posi- tion thereof will have the points parallell and in contact with each oth
- shims 13a, 13b are further provided to guarantee the proper alignme of the cutting elements 11a,11b relative to each other such that their points will move towards each other in the same plane.
- a somewhat modified device for adjusting the cutting means 11a, 11b is illustrated.
- the shims 13a, 13b are substituted by adjustment plates 1 a, 1-4b which are recessed in the walls 3a,3b and which may be displaced by means of set screws 15 which are threaded thr threaded holes in the walls 3a,3b.
- the adjustment plates are preferabl cylindrical and guiding columns may be provided or other kinds of arran ments taken to prevent turning of the plates.
