Abstract

The apparatus comprises two arms (9) hinged to a support fixed to the frame tube of the cycle (1) by means of a collar and each of them carries, at the free end thereof, a light source protected by orange-colored glasses (18). Owing to that arrangement, the tubes (9) may take either an operational spread out position wherein they are perpendicular to the plane of the cycle frame (1), or a retracted position towards the front or the rear of the cycle wherein they are parallel to the frame plane of the cycle, thereby allowing to carry the cycle or to put the cycle away, neither damaging the arms (9) nor causing any obstruction.

Description

Direction change signaling device for cycle.
The present invention relates to a device for signaling a change of direction for a cycle.
Les supports des sources lumineuses, comme aussi ces dernières, risquentThere are direction change signaling devices not only for cars, but also for motorcycles. The attempts which have been made to make direction change signaling devices for bicycles or mopeds have not met with great success, mainly because, in order to be effective, such devices must have their two light sources separated from each other by a distance greater than the width of the handlebar of the cycle. However, a cycle is an object called to be manipulated, that is to say carried, moved by hand, stored, leaning against a wall, etc., much more than a motorcycle, and the presence of sources lights located at a relatively great distance from the frame is an obstacle to these manipulations. The supports of the light sources, like also the latter, risk

Oî ÏP v< ir Le but de la présente invention est de remé¬ dier à ces inconvénients.Oî ÏP v <ir The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks.
This object is achieved by the means defined in claim 1.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view, from 3/4 rear, of a bicycle fitted with a device for signaling a change of direction.

The bicycle shown in figs. 1 and 2, generally designated by 1, is provided with a device for signaling a change of direction comprising a tubular housing 2 fixed, by collars 3, to a tube 4 of the frame of this cycle. This box is intended to contain three cylindrical electric batteries connected in series.
The tube 4 of the frame of this bicycle further carries a double collar 5 at the ends of which are welded two ears 6 crossed by a screw 7 (fig. 2) pin¬ cing between them the central leg, designated by 8a, of a cleat in T 8 whose transverse part, desi¬ gned by 8b, forms an elongated platform extending on either side of the general plane of the frame of the bicy¬ clette. This part 8b is intended to support two tubes, designated by 9, provided, at their free ends, with light sources. The inclination of the cleat 8 is adjustable, before locking the screw 7, so that its par-
C: tie 8b puisse être amenée à être sensiblement horizon¬ tale lorsque la bicyclette repose par ses deux roues sur un plan,horizontal..VS: tie 8b can be made to be substantially horizontal when the bicycle rests by its two wheels on a horizontal plane.
The two arms 9 are articulated by one of their ends on the cleat 8. For this purpose, each of them rests on an intermediate piece 10, forming a cradle, mounted rotatably and frictionally, using a screw 11 and an elastic arched washer 12, on the platform 8b. Each part 10 has " an elongated groove 13 in which the end of a tube 9 rests. Each tube 9 is fixed to the part 10 by two screws 14 (fig. 4) taking in a section of rod 15 lo¬ ge inside the tube.
Each tube 9 carries, at its free end, a part 16 in the form of a square frame in which is housed an electric bulb 17 (fig. 6), and which is provided with two orange protective glasses 18 placed on each of its faces.
Finally, the handlebars of the bicycle 1, designed by 19 / carries a housing 20 provided with a contactor which makes it possible to supply one or the other of the two electric bulbs carried by the two tubes 9. This housing 20 further contains an electronic circuit producing the intermittent supply of the bulbs and, therefore, their flashing.
2.The current from the batteries housed in the tubular housing 2 is conducted by wires, some of which, indicated at 21, are visible in particular in FIG. 2.
Thanks to the fact that the tubes 9 are articulated on the support 8, these tubes can occupy either a deployed position, shown in FIG. 1, in which they are perpendicular to the plane of the frame of the bicycle, and in which the signaling device is operational, the orange glasses 18 of each tube 9 being turned forwards and backwards of the bicycle, respectively, that is to say a folded down position, in which they are arranged parallel to the plane of the frame of the bicycle, folded backwards, as one of the tubes 9 has been shown in FIG. 7, or forward. In this position, the bicy¬ clette can easily be worn by its user, without the signaling device being annoying or ris¬ than being damaged. It should be noted that the invention will apply not only to bicycles, but also to mopeds.
