Abstract

A loading pallet having low dead weight, high loading capacity and low manufacturing costs, consisting of a loading surface (1) of honeycomb material (3) surrounded by an edge strip (2) provided with transverse strips (4-6) and having sheets (8) of cardboard, for instance, glued onto its upper and lower sides. The pallet (1) is provided with feet (9) which are screwed into the pallet surface.

Description

Loading pallet
The present invention relates to a loading pallet made of honeycomb material. The advantages of this over previously known constructions are low dead weight, high loading capacity and low cost. It is also easy to destroy and easy to handle.
A preferred embodiment of a loading pallet according to the invention will now be- described with reference to the accompanying drawings without, however, limiting the invention.
Figure 1 shows a loading pallet seen from the front.
Figure 2 shows the same pallet seen in perspective, including the runners.

According to Figures 1 and 2 the loading pallet comprises a loading surface 1, surrounded by an edge strip 2 of wood. The loading pallet 1 is made of honeycomb material 3 of standard quality, made of pasteboard or cardboard, stretched inside the wooden frame and thus surrounded thereby. In this example the height of the honeycomb material and the wooden strip is 3-3 cm.
The pallet is provided with 3 transverse strips H-6 having the same thick¬ ness as the loading surface, in this case 3«3 cm. The width of the transverse strips in this case is 11.5 cm and of the longitudinal strips lr.5 cm The strips are made of wood, but other materials such as plastic are also feasible. The transverse and longitudinal strips are held to¬ gether by metal brackets 7-
Sheets 8 of cardboard are glued above and below the honeycomb material, covering the upper and lower sides of the loading surface 1. The sheets may also be made of pasteboard, masonite or wood. Characteristic for the loading pallets is that the adhesion between sheets and material below is extremely efficient. The contact between the honeycomb material and the sheets must be extremely good during the glueing step. To start with, the honeycomb material is a fraction of a millimeter higher than the strips and compression is performed after glueing. In the present example the feet 9 are made of pressed chipboard, but they may also be of wood, plastic or other suitable material. In a preferred embodiment the loading pallet has six feet located in three rows. However, the number and placing may be varied.
The feet are screwed into the transverse strips. This can be achieved in various ways: by means of a wood-threaded screw 10 secured in the foot and screwed into a femal part 11 in the transverse strip on the pallet sur¬ face 1, for instance. A sleeve 12 located in the surface 1 is also pos- sible, or a wood-threaded screw 13 with wood-threaded top 14, in which case one end is secured in the foot and the other screwed into a hole 15 in the transverse strips 4-6 in the loading surface 1, or a sleeve 18 hammered into the foot and sleeve 19 in the loading surface, provided with a pre- drilled hole 21, and a through-bolt 20 threaded at both.ends may be used.
The feet can be supplied separately to the user, thus saving freight and packing. It is also easy to replace damaged feet.
The loading surface is rectangular and in the present case has the dimen- sions 80 x 120 cm. However, these dimensions can be adjusted according to the requirement. Adjustment of the quality and thickness of the sheets of cardboard covering the honeycomb material gives the desired rigidity of the pallet. The quality of the honeycomb material can also be adjusted according to requirement. The width and thickness of the edge strips can also be adjusted according to the desired load capacity.
The loading pallet may be provided with runners for stacking, the runners being fitted with spring brackets 17.
Other materials besides those listed above are also feasible. The pallet may thus be made partly or wholly of plastic. The pallet is extremely easy to handle, from both long and short side. It has high loading capacity, which is also flexible. By increasing or de¬ creasing the quality and dimensions of the material, the loading capacity is also altered. It is light and inexpensive. Other advantages are ease of handling, flat loading surface and slight volume.

Claims

1. Loading pallet with loading surface of honeycomb material, charac¬ terised in that the honeycomb material (3) is surrounded by an edge strip (2) of wood or other suitable material, that the loading sur¬ face (1) is provided with three transverse strips (4-6) or wood or other suitable material, its thickness being the same as the height of the edge strips (2) and that the loading surface (1) is covered on the upper and lower sides by sheets (8) of cardboard, pasteboard or other similar material glued on and is provided with feet (9) of wood, plastic or other suitable material.
2. Loading pallet according to claim 1, characterised in that the loading pallet (1) is produced by compressing together the covering sheets (8) and. the material below.
3. Loading pallet according to claims 1-2, characterised in that the . feet (9) are made of pressed chipboard material.
4. Loading pallet according to claims 1-3, characterised in that the feet (9) are screwed into the transverse strips (4-6).
5. Loading pallet according to claim 4, characterised in that the feet (9) are screwed on with a wood-threaded screw (10) which is secured in the foot and screwed into a female part (11) on the transverse strip (4-6) in the loading surface (1).
6. Loading pallet according to claim 4, characterised in that the feet (9) are screwed on with the help of a sleeve (12) located in the loading surface (1).
7. Loading pallet according to claim 4, characterised in that the feet (9) are screwed on with the help of a wood-threaded screw (13) with wood-threaded top (14), one part of the screw 13 being secured in the
' foot (9) and the other part in one of the transverse strips (4-6) in the loading surface (1).
8. Loading pallet according to claims 1-7, characterised in that the loading surface (1) is provided with holes (15) for the screw joints, to facilitate subsequent assembly.
9- Loading pallet according to claims 1-8, characterised in that the honeycomb material is made of pasteboard or cardboard.
10. Loading pallet according to claims 1-9 , characterised in that it is provided with runners ( 16) having feet ( 18) .
