- An annular bearing bushing 25 is disposed axially between an inboard surface 26 of collar 17 and an outboard surface 27 of bearing bushing 15 to cooperate with locking means 24 to retain the surfaces at a set axial distance relative to each other.
- This axial disposition of surfaces 26 and 27 provides an annular space for seating a standard elastomeric ring seal 28 therein which functions to seal out contaminants from the pivotal bearing contact between bearing bushing 15 and pin 16.
- a standard joint connection would find link 14 press-fitted directly onto a cylindrical end of a pin (collar 17 would be eliminated) whereby the circumference defining the press-fit relationship between the link and pin would be substantially less than that provided by the press-fit relationship defined by the larger circumference at interfacing surfaces 18 and 19 of collar 17 and link 14, respectively.
- the latter, larger circumference will thus provide substantially large surface areas for securing collar 17 and link 14 in press-fit relationship relative to each other.
- locking means 24 provides for the precise and continuous axial positioning of thrust bearing surfaces 26 and 27 relative to each other to not only prevent any drifting of pin 16, but to also provide for precise accommodation of seal 28 in joint connection 10.
- FIGS. 3 and 4 illustrate a modification of joint connection 11. As shown, collar 17 of FIG. 3
- OMPI essentially differs from collar 17 of FIG. 1 in that an annular flange 29 is formed on an inboard side thereof. A counter-bore 30 is thus defined within collar 17 to accommodate seal 28 therein.

- such joint connection may prove useful to one who is confronted with the problem of providing a joint connection wherein a pin and link must be secured together to provide the above- discussed disederata, including the prevention of relative axial movement therebetween.
- bushing 15 and links 13 would be installed on pin 16, whereafter thrust bearing 25 and seals 28 would be thrust bearing 25 is mounted in leak-tight, press-fit relationship on pin 16 and thrust ring 25 is firmly seated on the thrust ring to prevent oil leakage thereby. Thereafter, split locking collar of pin 17, including segments 20, would be mounted on end 21 of pin 16 and link 14 would be press-fitted onto the collar.
- the axial space accommodating seal 28, between surfaces 26 and 27, will thus be precisely defined and during operation of the track assembly locking means 24 will function to maintain such accommodation.

Abstract
L'utilisation de chenilles pour vehicule du type a chenille pose le probleme de la chasse des tiges dans la connection des joints. Cette chasse des tiges resulte essentiellement des charges importantes qui sont imposees a la connection des jointures pendant le fonctionnement des assemblages des chenilles. Un collier de verrouillage (17) est fixe entre la tige (16) et un maillon (14) d'un assemblage de chenille (10) pour empecher une telle chasse des tiges. En particulier, la tige (16) et le collier de verrouillage (17) ont des surfaces cooperantes (22, 23) pour empecher leur mouvement axial relatif. En appliquant ce procede, des segments (20) du collier de verrouillage (17) montes sur la tige (16) et le maillon (14) est alors fixe au collier de verrouillage (17).
