Abstract
Un método y aparato para medir la densidad relativa de un gas, por ejemplo gas natural, en el cual el gas es provisto a través de una entrada a una cámara y sale a través de la salida. Se calcula la velocidad del sonido en el gas, corregida para condiciones estándar (sc) usando un regulador y un transductor emisor de ultrasonido y un transductor receptor de ultrasonido, luego opera el regulador para medir la densidad relativa RD del gas usando la formula: RD =a x SoSmsc + b donde sossc es la velocidad del sonido en el gas, corregida para condiciones estándar (sc) y a y b son constantes. Dicho método se caracteriza por que comprende medir la velocidad del sonido en el gas y usar la velocidad del sonido en una operación que da la densidad relativa del gas correspondiente a dicha velocidad de sonido. Este gas se suministra a través de un intercambiador de calor a una zona en la cual se emite una señal de ultrasonido para medir la velocidad del sonido en el gas. Un medio de control para ajustar la relación oxigeno/gas combustible de un proceso de combustión de gas caracterizado por que comprende un aparato para medir la densidad relativa del gas combustible destinado al proceso de combusión de gas y medios para ajustar un sistema de control de la relación oxigeno /gas conbustible de acuerdo con la densidad relativa determinada.
