1 Claim.
The present invention relates to a new and distinct variety of rose plant of the hybrid tea class, originated by me by crossing the varieties Crimson Glory (Plant Patent No. 105) X Poinsettia (unpatented).
The primary object of the invention was to obtain a new variety of rose plant having substantially the growth and upright habits of Poinsettia, but which bears flowers having substantially the color and fragrance of Crimson Glory. This objective was fully achieved in the new variety, as evidenced by its upright growth and stiff neck, the great number of flowers produced when it is grown under greenhouse conditions, and by the Carmine general tonality and the graceful form of the blooms.
Asexual reproduction of the new variety by budding at Newark, New York, and at Pleasanton, California, shows that the foregoing characteristics come true to form and are established and transmitted through succeeding propagations.
The accompanying drawing shows specimens of the flowers and foliage of the new variety in different stages of development.
The following is a detailed description of the new variety, with color terminology in accordance with Ridgways Color Standards and Nomenclature:
