Plant Pat. 1,065
The present invention relates to" a new and distinct variety of rose plant of the floribunda class, originated by crossing the variety Garnette (unpatented) with an unnamed, unpatented yellow seedling.
The primary objective in making this cross was to obtain a rose of the Garnette type in a new color of flower, but retaining the lasting quality, stiff petals and good production which are characteristic of this parent.
This objective was fully achieved, as evidenced by the following features which are distinctive in the new variety and distinguish it from both parents, as well as from all other known varieties of which I am aware:
(1) The Cameo Pink color of the flowers;
(2) The long-lasting quality of the flowers, both on the plant and as cut-flowers;
(3) The prolific production of flowers when grown in the greenhouse; and
(4) The hardiness when grown out-of-doors.
Asexual reproduction of the new variety by budding at Newark, New York, and at Pleasanton, California, shows that the foregoing characteristics come true to form and are established and transmitted through succeeding propagations.
The accompanying drawing shows specimens of the new variety, with the flowers and foliage in different stages of development.
The following is a detailed description of the new variety, with color terminology in accordance with the Ridgways Color Standards and Nomenclature:
