DESIGN FOR INKSTANDS.
Specification forming part of Design No. 8,932, dated January 23, 1876;
application filed December 20, 1875.
[Term of Patent 3.} years] To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, Eoson W. SMITH, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Inkstnnds; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereot', reference being bad to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification.
The figure of the drawing represents an inkstand having the configuration, and pro vided with the ornamentation constituting my design.
The base A, which is of a polygonal form of any number of sides, is provided with raised panels B, having scrolled and curved ornamentation in intaglio, as shown in the drawing.
From near the outer edges of the panels B the sides are beveled, and provided with raised panels 0, which are ornamented in intaglio, as shown in the drawing.
The projections D at the corners of the base, which form the pen-rack, are provided with depressions a and elevations b on their tops, and with raised panels E on their sides, having scrolled and curved ornamentation in intaglio, as shown in the drawing.
The form of these projections constituting the pen-rack may be varied from what is shown in the drawing without departing from my invention, provided the raised panels E, having the scrolled and curved ornamentation, substantially as shown in the drawing. are retained.
llaving thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and original, and desire to secure by Letters latent, is-
l. The design for an inkstand, consisting of the base beveled at its sides, and provided with raised panels, having scrolled and curved ornamentation, as shown and described.
