DESIGN FOR TEA AND COFFEE POTS.

Specification forming part of Design No. 8,372, dated June 1, 1875; application filed April 28, 1875. [Term of Patent 3% years.]

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, J. D. RICE, of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and hseful Design for Tea and Coffee Pots; and do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specifiers tion, in which- Figure 1 is a side VIEW of coffee-pot. Fig. 2 is a representation of one of the designs on the side of the vessel.

My design has reference, first, to making the vessel in the form and configuration, and with the inscriptions, of the old Liberty Bell in the StateHouse or Independence Hall in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; sec 0nd, to ornameuting or embellishingwvessels of this form or configuration by engraving, printing, embossing, or otherwise illustrating certain historical events hereinafter mentioned.

In the drawing, A represents a tea or coffee pot, formed and configurated like the old Liberty Bell, having the similitude of a crack at a, and the several inscriptions, as partly shown, and which are as follows: By order of the Assembly of the Province of Pennsylvania, for the State-House in the city of Philadelphia. fProclaim liberty throughout all the land, unto all the inhabitants thereof.- LEV. XXV: X. Pass & Stow, Philada, MDOOLIII.

The historical events represented, and which are intended to be applied in any suitable manner, according to the character of the material employed, to the sides of the vessel, are. first, the Puritans wading ashore from the Mayflower; second, the throwing over of the tea in Boston Harbor. These designs are illustrated, respectively, in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawing.

lVhat I claim isl. As a new design for tea and coffee pots, the form and configuration of old Liberty Bell in the State-House, Philadelphia, Pa., substantially as shown.

2. As a design for ornamenting tea and cot" fee pots and similar vessels, an illustration of the Puritans wading ashore, as shown.

3. As a design for ornamenting tea and coi fee pots, an illustration of the throwing over of the tea in Boston Harbor, substantially as shown.
