DESIGN FOR PlTCHER.
Specification forming part of Dtsign No. 8,282, dated April '20, 1875; application filed March 9, 1875. [Term of Patent 3. years] To all ttllOlll it may concern lle it known that I, HERMAN VASSEL'R, of \Yallinglord, in the count of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for lee-Pitcher; and I do hereb declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a tall, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent side \'lt'\\'.
The illustration relates to a design for that class of iee'piteher which are hung in at'raine, and known as tilting pitchers. Parts of the design are, however, applicable to other pitchers.
The design consists of three essential features, viz: First, the configuration of the siuiporting-t'rame; second, the configuration and ornamentation of the handle; third, the configuration and ornamentation of the nose. The last two features are applicable to ice pitchers generally.
On the base or plate, at each side, are the fore quarters of two Pegasnses, facing in opposite directions, the bodies resting on the plate, and from the bodies of each a scrollwork rises to the bearing for the pitcher.
This scrollwork is fioriated, and all as shown in the accompanying illustration. The handle starts from a tip near the bottom of the pitcher and rises in a curve to a. little below the top of the pitcher. From this point a scroll -springs to the body of the, pitcher. Each side of this scroll is in the form ot'a wing, and surmounted by the head of a dog, as shown in the accompanying illustration. The nose or spout is of a scollop shell shape, restingon a consolebelow, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
1 Claim-- 1. The design for pitcher-frame, consisting otthetwo legasnses and seroll-work extending up to the hearing, as shown in the accompanying illustration, and herein described.
2. The design for handle for ice-pitcher, consisting of the curved lower part and serolltop connection, with wing ornaments surmounted by a figure of a dogs head, as shown and described.
3. The design for ice-pitcher nose, consisting of the shellshaped spout, resting on the console below, as shown and described.
