UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DESIGN FOR PICTURE-FRAME.
Specification forming part of Design No. 6,536, dated March 25, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, LEWIS STEINHILPER and LOUIS VVELKER, of Williamsport, in the county of Lycoming and in the State of Penn Sylvania, have invented a certain new and useful Design for Picture-Frames; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing making a part of this specification, in which is shown a front elevation of our improved frame.
Our improvement consists in a rectangular frame provided with two spaces, A, for the reception of pictures. The side, top, and bottom pieces B, O, and D, respectively, are secured together by any suitable means, so as to cause their ends to overlap and extending diagonally across each of said crossed ends is a strip, E, ofthe same material, from which said parts are constructed. The center strip F extends below the bottom strip D to 'a point upon a line with the ends of the sides B, but at its upper end is prolonged so as to unite with the intersecting ends of the upper cross-strips E',
which are extended inward and upward, as shown. Across the extended ends of the vertical and horizontal pieces B, O, D, and F are secured narrow strips G, While at each point of intersection of the former is placed a nail having an ornamental head, H.
The strips composing the frame may either be made with dark edges and light center, as shown, or they may have a uniform color over their entire surface.
Having thus fully set forth the ynature and merits of ourinvcntion, what we claim as new 1s IThe design for a picture-frame, substantially as specitied.
