FRAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 224,973, dated February 24, 1880.
Application filed December 4, 1879.
To all whom may concern Be it known that I, THEODORE WALLIS, of Scipio, in the county of Cayuga and State of proved Frame, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved frame for pictures and other objects which is simple and ornamental.
The invention consists in a frame formed of colored glass, or of glass having colored paper attached to the rear side, which frame may have a backing of wood.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is an isometrical perspective view of a frame Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view of the same on the line :1; m, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional elevation of the lower part of the frame.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A A represent strips of glass, which have strips of colored paper, B B, or similar material,fastencd to the rear side by means of some adhesive material. These strips A A are cemented or fastened with some other suitable adhesive material to wooden strips 0 O, of less width than the glass strips, so that the rabbet D is formed by the projecting glass, as is shown in Figs. 2 and 3.
With the strips thus obtained a frame is constructed as shown in Fig. 1, or in some V V manner. What I claim as new and of my invention is In a picture-frame, the glass strips A and the narrower wooden strips 0, connected by an intermediate cemented paper strip, B, to form the rabbet D, as and for the purpose described.
