DESIGN FOR A HINGE.
Specification forming part of Design No. 5,304, dated October 3, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES SUEDEKUM, of Newport, Campbell county, Kentucky, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Hinge, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of my design is fully represented in the accompanying illustration, to which reference is made.
The hinge is of the class which is made with double incline surfaces to permit the door or gate to he opened in either direction, and cause it to close automatically by gravity when released. The two members of the hinge are precisely alike excepting in respect to the pintlc a, one passing through the socket of the other in custommary manner. In my hinge the spiral inclines b b terminate above and below in flat surfaces 0 c, constituting steps or rests, and the cylindrical bosses on which the inclines are formed are connected to the attaching-plates d by necks e having concave sides, as represented, to impart to the structure a more graceful appearance.
I claim as my invention- The design for a hinge, as shown and specified.
