To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY M. SHERWOGD, of Chicago, in the count-5v of Cook and State o1" Ilinois, have invented ay Design for the Frame of a Church, Hall, School, and Lawn-Seat, ot' which the following is aspeeitieation:
The nature of my design is fully represented in the accompanying photographie illustration, to which reference is made.
Figure 1 represent-s an iron casting' which-is lnade t0 sustain the end ofthe seat. Fig. 2 rep reseuts an iron casting` used for sustaining; the center of the seat.
Fig. l is made oi' a single piece of eastfiron, with legs A and B eonneeted by curved arm X, which sustains the seat, and terminating in a singie standard, C, to which the baek ofthe seat is attached, and is strengthened bLv braces l) and E. To give it more beaut)v and strength i-= ari-i F, which, with eirele G, eonneets standard i to leg' B. Fig'. 2 is made ot' a single piece o1' mstiron, with legs H I Connected by eurved arm Z, which sustains the seat, and terminating in a sin gle standard,K,to whieh is attaehed the bat-k of the seat. rIhis frame is strengthened by bra s L M. That part of the frame in Fig. l inelosed by the arm F, standard C, arm X, and eirele Gr has two eurved leaves, N and O, and bud Q. These, with the qnarterfoil I lying between leg\, brace I), and arm X, together with quarterfoil 1%, leaves J S and bud Y inelosed by braces E and I), and leg- B earved in basso-relievo, se as to give the design a neat and beautiful i'ippearanee. In Fig. 2, iuelosed by legs II and I, arm Z, and brace M, are quarterfoils 'I Y and leaf W', Carved in bassorelievo,so as to gi ve strength and beauty to the t'ra me.
I am aware that east-iron frames for church, hall, sehool, and lawn seats are not new, and I do not claim them. my design is found in the basso-relieve oruaments, eoniposed ot' leaves, qnarterfoils, and buds.
what I claim as my invention is- A design for ehureh, hall, school, and lawnseat frames, with ornaments ol' leaves, quarteri'oils, and buds, substantially iu the manner above described.
