Design No. 5,004, dated June 13, 1871.
DESlGN FOR A TOY STEAM-ENGINE.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom-it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD P. RYDER, of Brooklyn, Kings county, New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Toy Steam-Eugiue; and that the following is a description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a. front view of the toy steam-engine.
Figure 2 is an end view of the same.
In the drawings like parts of the invention are in dicated by the same letters of reference.
A shows a base-plate supporting the legs B, upon which rests the boiler O, provided with an opening, 0, in its top, into which water may be poured.
Upon the top plate of the boiler O is cast the frame D, for supporting the operative parts of the engine.
The sides of the frame against which the cylinders E rest are provided with induction and exhaust-ports, and also with openings, through which the trunnions of the cylinders E are inserted.
The upper portion of the frame is provided with an opening to receive the fly-wheel shaft F, so that the fly-wheel shaft shall be ahoutequidistaut between the cylinders E.
E are two steam-cylinders, provided on one side with the trunnions inserted as just stated in openings in the sides of the frame, and having inserted in them the pistons G.
Upon the tly-wheel shaft F is secured the fiy-wheel H, having inserted in one of its spokes a stud, h, over which the ends of the pistons G are passed.
J show spiral springs employed to hold the cylinders to the frame D, one being employed for each cylinder, one end of each spring J being attached to the supports L, while the opposite ends are attached to the trunnions of the cylinders E.
I claim as my invention The design for a toy steam-engine, as shown.
