UNITED STATES PATENT op nion.
JAMES F. LEMON, OF SYRACUSE, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO THE 0. M. EDWARDS COMPANY, INC., 0F SYRACUSE, NEW YORK, A CORPORATION OF NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A PADLOCK.
Application filed April 29, 1915.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES F. LEMON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga and State of New York, have invented a new, original. and ornamental Design for Padlocks, of which the following is a specifican, reference being had to the accompanylng drawing, forming part thereof.
In the drawing, Figures 1 and 2 are, respectively, a front elevation and an edge yiew of a padlock showing my new design.
This new and ornamental design of a pad lock consists in a body circular in general form and having its central portion 1 depressed so that the body has the appearance of thick ring 2, the surfaces of which round in substantially spherical curves from the depression on the front side of the body over the periphery of the body, to the corresponding depression on the rear side of the body and give the impression that the ring is circular in cross-section.
The design further consists of two pairs of upwardly extending projections 3 on the upper edge of the body between which the opposite ends of the shackle i extend, the projections being flat and extending into Specification for Design.
Patented Sept. 28, 1915.
Serial No. 24,829. Term of patent 3 years.
arcuate depressions 5 in the ring portion 2 of the body, and having the appearance of being circular and as pressed or upset from the ring portion 2 of the body. The shackle 4 is arcuate in general form with flat front and rear sides, and curves inwardly and widens at its ends so that its inner and outer edges 6, 7 appear to be tangent as at 8, 9 with the edges of the projections 3, the inner edges 6 curving inwardly in a sharper curve han the outer edges 7 so that the opening inclosed by the shackle has the appearance of a circle, the lower portion or Zone of which is cut off by the part of the ring shape portion 2 of the body located between the opposite ends of the shackle 4:.
That I claim is The ornamental design for a padlock, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of two attesting witnesses, at Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga, and State of New York, this 21st day of April, 1915.
JAMES F. LEMON.
