UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES F. LEMON, OF SYRACUSE, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO THE 0. M. EDWARDS COMPANY, INC., OF SYRACUSE, NEW YORK, A CORPORATION OF NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A PADLOCK.
Application filed April 29, 1915. Serial No. 24,819.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, James F. LEMON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga and State of New York, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for Pad ficks, of which the following is a specificaon, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
In the drawing, Figures 1 and 2 are, respectively, a front elevation and an edge view of a padlock showing my new design.
This new and ornamental design of a padlock consists of a body 1 circular in general form and having its periphery 2 convex, the body also having on its front and rear sides, marginal beads 3 which are rounding in cross-section, and the bases on the outer sides of which meet the base of the convex periphery 2 in lines as at 4. Said beads 3 include circles or eyes 5 on opposite sides of the center of the body, the portions of the eyes toward the periphery of the body ex tending at 6 over onto the periphery 2 of the body.
The design further includes two pairs of Specification for Design.
Term of patent 3%- years.
radially extending ears or projections 7 on the upper portion of the body and between which, opposite ends of the shackle 8 e:; tend, the ears being flat and having their side edges 9 straight and their end edges 10 rounding, and the shackle 8 being arcuate and widening at 11 at its ends so that its inner and outer edges 12 and 13 are coincident with or curve into the planes of the edges 9 of the projections 7. Thus the opening inclosed by the shackle has the appearance of a circle which merges into a truncated triangle between the inner ends of the shackle.
hat I claim is:
The ornamental design for a padlock, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of two attesting witnesses, at Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga, and State of New York, this 21st day of April 1915.
JAMES F. LEMON.
