Design No. 4,158, dated June 21, 1870.
DESIGN FOR BEDOUIN, OR ARAB.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS DOLAN, of the city of Philadelphia, in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and original Design for a Bedouin or Arab and I do hereby declare the following to be a full description thereof.
This invention has reference to a peculiar method of fashioning the rear of the shawl-mantles known as Bedouins or Arabs, which have heretofore been made either by tacking them together at the points A and O, or by cutting out a triangular piece from the middle, on the lines A B, B 0, Figures 1 and 2.
To fashion a Bedouin or Arab according to this design, the garment is first stitched together on the lines A B, B G, as shown in Figure 3, by which means it is enabled to fit the body, after which the hood-piece D, formed by stitching the garment together, as aforesaid, is shaped so as to present the appearance of a hood, as shown in Figure 4.
Minor ornaments may also be added, without departing from thegeneral character of the design.
\Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-- The design or configuration of an Arab or Bedouin, produced by sewing it together on the lines A B, B C, so as to cause it to fit the body without cutting, and, at the same time, form a hood-piece, substantially as described.
